Had my CRF450r/400ex hybrid fired up today. Just need to jet it a little bit, and finish a few little things then it is off to powder coat. I'll try and get some pictures up tomorrow.

Well had a exhaust valve break off today, putting a hole in the piston. Just wondering where you buy your springs etc. I wanna use Stainless valves so I don't have to adjust them as often. Is kibblewhite a good choice? How about Ferrea and CV4? I have a Web 208 cam if it makes any difference.
How about these? APE valves and spring kit?

Sorry it's taken so long to get pictures. We finished up the motor and put it in last night. It fired right up. Went out today fired 1st kick. That was the one thing I was worried about getting it to start. But I won't keep you waiting any longer. We still have to get the frame etc powder coated but we wanted to make sure the motor was going to run 1st.

Thank you sir. Yep I heard of a lot of people's frames cracking with these, might have been a little over kill though and might end up cracking more with out some flex but we'll see. They are Motowoz. I'm going to go out on a limb and say its one of the only hybrids with them on it.

im not fimiliar with motowoz. i have ran works(junk) and derisi racing. the derisi shocks were an awesome set-up. if the suspension does its job it doesnt need too much flex.

how did you mount the radiator? on my hybrid, i just put two lower mounts and the top went into the upper rails.

It's pretty much a one guy operation out of a shop in Ham Lake MN. I haven't rode on them yet except around the block but lots of people like them so I figured why not. I heard derisi does some good work too. And that's what my dad says if the shocks are set up right your frame shouldn't be cracking.
As for the mounts we ran a piece of metal across the frame right in front of the stock 400ex motor mounts which you can kinda see if you look at the last picture closely and then for the top we made a gusset type bracket and drilled holes. This radiator is actually off of a 450r, I'm guessing you used a 250r or something similar.

Looks really good, Nice work.. although I have to say I'm not to sure about the dirtbike looking freestylish seat, but to each is his own.

What brand of plastics are you running? Those rears have an interesting shape, more sharp looking in the back than say Maier which have rounded edges

Thank you, and its still a 400ex seat pan but I took the stock foam to lower the height. I thing I'm going to be regretting that but we'll see.
The plastic is Laker Custom, we trimmed up the bottom for the kicker.

I was just wondering if any of you guys that used the CRF carb with a trx 450 cable had any problems with it having too much slack in it? I'm using a Streamline cable and when you push the throttle there is like 1/2" or more play in. Seems kinda dangerous if you ask me. Since there is two holes in the carb which one did you use? I think only one of them works but I'm not sure. Thanks for any help.

the fcr carbs have a push/pull type throttle on them, requiring two cables. to use one cable, you want it to be attached to the pulling side of the carb. so when you work the throttle, it pulls the carb open

Oh yep, so that must not be the problem. I read around and it seems people are using a YFZ throttle cable. So maybe I'll try that.

I'm officially a hybrid owner. These things are awesome, so much power. I went to the track today rode and shot some pictures. I just need to fix a few things, the top breather on the valve cover blows oil all over but we don't have it hooked into the intake like it was on the bike and order a precision and its good to go for the Millville nats. With out keeping you any longer here is the finished pics.

How do you like those Motowoz? I've heard nothing but great things about them

They are pretty awesome, I didn't really mess with the adjustments today and they weren't bad for just using the settings Jim had put them to. I'm going to take it up and have Jim go over the different adjustments with me so I know what to mess with at the track, he's one of the friendliest people I've talked with and knows a lot about shocks.

I love hybrids what was your total $$$ into it ? What class at the Nat you running ?

mooseracerX
05-31-2010, 12:40 PM
Thanks man, I love them too. I'm know I made a list but there is parts I didn't put on there, I was at $8133.91 before having to put money in the motor so I'm going to guess about $9500 or so. That was with the cost of an entire dirt bike, which I parted out. I'm going to have to run a B class because that's what I run in district, not sure which one I should run, I think I saw 3 B classes that were modified classes.

Has anyone had a problem with the splines on the countershaft sprocket ripping off? I got a cheap sprocket from ECATV and the spines got destroyed. I'm going to try a JT and see it lasts any longer.
