found a 450r with a crack in the case. its only $1000. it says its got a crack in the case near the shifter. does that mean that i have to split the crankcase to replace it?

i will try. the guy says its near the shift leaver. its an 04 kicker.

we have welded pieces near the shifter on the case ..so if its not a bad crack just get it welded...

my guess would be is the case will need to be changed since he wants a grand and says case cracked on ebay cases are $150+

if you get a new case its either 300 or 600 for each side. i forget i think its 600+. that was part of my rebuild in my $2300 rebuild
