cylinder question

So I recently bought a complete 86 motor with out a cylinder for my 87 250r. What I'm wondering is is it possible to use my 87 cylinder on an 86 bottom end. I've searched around and made calls but its never the same answer.

yes its possible, just use the 86 piston.

That's what I was told by someone at esr that the wrist pin height is different but the part numbers are the same for 86 and 87-89
