Okay... so i just finished up installin my CRF cam chain and Sparks key and new clutch and clutch springs. I started up the quad and after about 30 seconds the headers started glowing red and the quad eventually shut itself off... What could this be??? Maybe the quad is running lean???

Well it can run hotter from the timing advance. Just an FYI stainless headers can glow, that doesnt mean there is something wrong. I have an FMF and mine glows. As far as shutting off, that leads me to believe you may be running lean. Check your jetting.

Yeah but the thing is the bike wasn't even running for 30 seconds before they were glowing... and i have a FMF Powerbomb Header

Are you running premium fuell? If not you could be getting detonation. Youre not running a high compression piston are you? That combined with such an agressive ignition timing requires an octane of at least 100 depending on compression.

I am running stock piston and compression... i am running 89 pump gas...

Glowing headers, your to lean, needs bigger jets.

Running lean causes excessive heat, No header is supposed to glow.

I know you need smaller jets for higher elevations, Im at sea level and your at 900ft, so I have no clue.

What jets sizes do you have now?

well with the key you wanna run 93 now.. itll pre-detonate even if its not the problem higher octane will make it run better

That is not true. Most stock headers will not, but some of the stainless pipes will.

You should be putting higher octane in your quad. Try that and see what happens.

Try putting your lid back on.Might be enough to fix it.Is the header a thinner metal.
