Question about a CR250

Hopefully someone here may know, I got a 1991 Honda CR250. It needs a CDI box. 1989-91 CDI's will work. I am having a hard time finding a CDI for a reasonable price for it. 1992 on up to like 1999 are all the same. My question is just like we can retrofit a 2001 CR250 into the 250r's could a guy buy the whole ignition system for a lets say 1994 CR250 and have it work and not need a adapter plate like the quads do?

yes, as far as i know, you could use a 01 cr 250 ignition on a older bike. As long as its newer than 92.
