Any help would be great. I have a 00 400ex. Ive put a fmf exhaust on and a K&N filter, I recently bought the jet kit and followed the directions to a T and it just doesnt run. I have the 146 main jet and 3 turns into the fuel mixture screw. it will not run at all without the choke on.
Anyone have any suggestions for me.

thanks

did you turn the air screw in until it bottomed and then backed out three turns?

When you put the choke on it restricts the amount of air that can enter the carb, thus richening the mix.

This being the only time it runs leads me to think its too lean. But remember that the main jet doesnt come into play till full throttle so it seems that it is in the pilot or needle.

The only good thing in the kit is the needle anyhow so lets hear what position its in.

Other than that it could be something isnt installed right.

Have fun jettng is a blast

thanks for the replies.

Ok where is the air screw mixture ???

and does 3 turns sound right for the fuel mixture??

I have the clip on the needle on the 3rd notch from the top.

I havent changed anything else but the jet and needle.. I live in phx so i think we are around 1000 feet so the directions said to use a 146 or a 165 with the air box lid off.

Does this sound right?

ARGHH

fuel crap I hate because it has to be just right.

use a 160 or a 165mj, and get a 40 or a 42 pilot jet, and put the screw out 2 1/2 turns. and put the stock needle back in, but one notch lower. a 146 is really small, stock is 148, so u went backwards.

throw a 155 in it or a 160,,i bet that gets ya goin,,and put the clip on the 4th notch down..

Start on the richer end of the spectrum and work leaner with the main jet. That way you wont damage the engine. In other words, start with the 165 main and work down.

Lithtley seat the idle mixture screw, mark it with a permanant marker, and count 2 1/2 to 3 turns backing the screw out. Just follow the directions with the kit to a tee and it will run.

according to the map its looks like your between 5000-10000 feet. -
According to the dynojet instrucoins you should go to the #2 groove instead of the #3 groove.
For the main jet I would try the DJ160 main jet. Then try the DJ165 and see which one you like better.
And 3 turns on the fuel mixture screw.
Hope this helps.
