Guys, need a little push in the right direction. I have a 86 engine on it's last bore. Without changing out the crank, I know I'm limited to my options for size wise. The ESR non power valve seems to be the best economical choice. If I put out the first $600 for this kit, is it worth the extra $250. for the power valve? Or is there more options? My riding style is no racing, just fast open fields with some slower trails. Thanks.

as cheap as the ESR cylinders are, i would get a PV... Its about the same price for a ESR pv, as it is for a pro x non pv i believe... Plus i think you will be happier in the long run...

I'm begining to lean that way!

I sure wish i would have spent the extra couple hundred for a PV cylinder...

Like stated, save your coin and buy the non pv ESR 310. Then send the cylinder to a good 250R engine builder and have it ported.

yes if your not going to have enough to port the pv if you spring for it,,,, get the NON pv and have it ported it would out proform the stock pv cylinder by a lot!!!!!!!!

if i was on a tight budget i would buy the biggest power valve i could afford and run it until i could get it ported. i think it would be a trx 9 cylinder. (if going with esr) a 350pv if icould do the cases,if not i guess a 310.:eek2:

Not a big ESR fan but buy a pv if you are getting a new cyl . ported or not pv is the way to go

I like this idea. Money is a little thin now days. I can swing for the 310pv. The porting may have to wait. I have to get my bike back in the action. :) Thanks for the feedback.

What type of riding/racing do you plan on using this cylinder for? I almost always recommend the non pv version. Spend the extra $$$ on the 350 non pv cylinder.

yep, and a pv is one more thing to maintain. I would go 330 non pv.

No racing, just fast trails. I'm running a 86 short rod, nothing over the 310 for now. PV is another maintance issue I know, but it looks like the reveiws are mixed. Thanks.
