carb needle

i have a 2005 400ex. i bought it used and the carb has a needle with only one slot on it. i didnt know if this is common i am just worried because i just bought new exhaust and i think this might screw me with the jetting. any input would be great.

Yes, it is not adjustable on the 05+ models. I purchased a Dynojet jet kit which came with the adjustable needle and e clip..additionally the kit comes with the tool you will need to adjust the fuel / air screw as well when you rejet. I'm not sure if you can purchase these separate. Kinda sucks paying $55 when on the 99-04 you can just grab a 3$ main jet and you're good. What kind of exhaust did you go with? Good luck

i went with the new hmf competition full pipe. i had a hmf slip and it just wasnt doin for me. so now i have that with a 440kit k&n open lid and i also bought a stage 3 hotcam. i just need to beat my budies on z400's

You can buy the needle and the carb adjustment tool from dyno jet separately, just have to call them in order to do it. No where on the website to order.

you might have a chance to beat the little "z"...but big "Z" and big "X" are a different story!
