View Full Version : portable tire changers, any luck?

i needing to switch some tires around and i figured this would be cheaper than doing them all at a shop, has anyone bought these with any luck? heres an example, any help would be great, thanx

my buddy has one from harbor freight and if u set the tires on it right it works great

My local tire shop only charges 10.00 to swap all four tires for me so it’s best to let them do it. I only have to change them twice a year so it’s not cost effective to buy a tire breaking machine.

Even with the changers it's still a pain to do. My neighbor has the same Harbor Freight one that you're looking at and we built a platform for it to stick into a receiver hitch for changing tires out on the trails. It works nice for breaking the bead but the hardest part is trying to get the tire back on the rim. It works, but it's a lot easier just taking them down to the shop if you can. My shop doesn't charge me anything to swap out tires since my dad and I have been going there for so long. I just tip the guy $20.

my friend has that harbour freight one and it works great. just buy a tire iron to help you when your putting them on

go to walmart 7 bucks a tire :cool:
