So right now I'm working on getting a job. All in hopes of buying another quad :D . I had a 1995 Blaster when I was 11-12, then sold that for a Yamaha YZ80, then sold that for wheels and tires for my car  . I have a couple questions. I am 16, about 140lbs, and around the 5' 8" area. I just want to know if I buy a 300ex, will it be underpowered? I mostly rode trails around my neighborhood (couple miles of trails) and occasionally went to Minooka Park in Clanton. I don't think it is going to be something that won't be fun, but I don't want to get bored either. Also, my max budget I want to spend is about $3,000, but I need monthly payments because I don't have all the cash at once to go buy one. How late of a model will dealerships usually have? I can't afford a brand new 300ex, it's way to much. My local dealership opens tomorrow so I am going to give them a call, and possibly the one in Clanton too. Any help is appreciated!

i got mine when i was 16 or 17 and i began thinking the same thing that it was under powered. but after i piped the thing it is much better. it is a great trail quad. i strongly recomend either the 300 or the 400

Yeah I've been talking to some guys on hondaatvforums.net and they suggest the 400 instead, simply because it's something to grow on and it offers more performance possibilities.

Yea if i was u i would buy a 400ex cuz i would grow out of the 300ex and get bored of it and u would probably want more power so i would say 400ex

I'm 35, weigh twice as much as you and ride the piss out of my 300. Mine is basically stock, minus an air filter and nerf bars. I realize that this quad doesn't have the same power as my 440, but i still have a quad and enjoy it when the time comes.

you can do a lot with a 300ex. at 140 pounds I could build your motor to hang with a 200 pound rider on a 400ex no problem...(in the short distance...400 will still pull it on top end).

Holdens 300ex got the whole shot at many races against bigger quads.

Now with that said....dealers usually don't have many used 300ex's. With your budget being 3000, I would sugest you find a 400 also. Buy the time you buy a 300 and mod it, you could have bought a 400.

Both are great quads but the 400 gives a better ride in stock form.
