Its got a 250R 450R shootout and they are comparing a 1989 250R to a 2009 450R.
Its a pretty good article except they dont know crap about 250Rs or think the readers dont either.
The 250R is not an 89 but rather an 86 or 87?
What first caught my eye was the square rear tail light and then I noticed the little nubs in the front of the frame that hold the earlier models corsair looking nose piece.
Then if you look at the front and rear hubs they are clearly the earlier style and were painted red.
The engine and rear swingarm and plastics are the only thing 89 in my opinion and the engine and swinger could even be 88 for that matter.
They also mention that the 89 was the only year 250R that came with heel guards and this is true but they are not gonna mount on the frame that they have pictured.
If you look at the front of the frame where the a- arms bolt up it looks like the heavier duty 86 frame that weighs more than the 88/89 did.
Dont get me wrong it is a sweet looking 250R but maaan the way they keep calling it a cherry 89 just cracks me up! lol

I mean this rag is sold nationwide! Couldnt they atleast have found a real Genuine 89 250R to do a honest comparo to?
They did a weight comparison and the 450 was only 31 lbs heavier than the 250R.
Im not sure of how much but if they were to have used a real 89 the 450 would have weighed more.

I like Dirtwheels magazine but dont they realize that some of us know enough about Fourtrax 250Rs that we would find their claim of this bike being an 89 B.S. ? Take care guys and as always RIDE RED!!!!

Well, the writer doesn't know the difference between caster and camber either, because he used the word interchangeably... so it's not just 250R information DW gets wrong.

I didn't see the article because I quit subcribing to Dirtwheels about 5 years ago. It has become a 4 stroke only magazine. I had been a customer of theirs since 1988. No more. Does anyone know if Bill "WBGO" Lanphier contributes any articles for dirtwheels? I doubt it, because he is a 2 stroke guy.

Media is published to not alienate the least common denominator which apparently in DW's case these days is anyone who likes pretty pictures...

From a practical perspective it is the best quad ever mass produced, and probably will be for a long time to come. Honda can shove their Ti valves and pink fenders up their as*es...

I bought it without reading it anfd was disappointed with the article, i had given up on DW and then QUAD and other goes bankrupt and the main two or just about theonly two left are atv action and dirt wheels and they are put out by the same company
