I did my first oil change on my 03 400ex yesterday.
I followed all directions including the tuberculosis part of the filter facing out.
I used 10e-40 Royal purple with oem filter.
My plan is to use Amsoil and a Wix filter after this weekend.
I am using the rp to "clean out" the really old over due by 3 years oil.
After filling 1.75 quarts I turned it on to idle for a few min as instructed. During that time the exhaust was blowing white smoke. I turned it off and toped the oil and let it run for a few more min.
After 3 min the smoke went away.
Not sure if this is due to improper jetting?
I have a 152 main and a 42 pilot on there way.
My headers turn bright blue after 4 min of idling.
Any help or advice would be great!

Thats a good question. I noticed the same white smoke after my first oil change since I got mine in the fall.

So...free bump...

white smoke is usually condensation burning up in the exhaust, nothing to worry about.

blue smoke, well thats bad- means your likely burning off oil, new rings/valve seals are probably needed

black smoke- means your jetting is off, usually too rich
