would a loose flywheel make it difficult to start?

my quad was rough starting, so i took off the cover and inspected. i come to find my flywheel SLIGHTLY loose. i tightened it and it fired right up:confused:

what other problem could be a result of the loose flywheel?

lucky it didn't shear the key and leave you stranded somewhere

quite honestly you should have taken the flywheel off while it was loose and inspected the key. imo you really should pony up en get you a puller.

i think that is what i will do. i just need to make a flywheel holder.

my original plan was to take it off but when i seen it loose i just went and tightened it. the impact gun was able to tighten it but not get er loose:confused:

a flywheel holder?

you can make a flywheel puller pretty easily but for what they cost might as well get one. they usually fit different models also, so they're good to have.

i think he means for holding the flywheel while removing/installing the nut?

yes, i think honda has it defined as a universal holder.

My flywheel holder is a little thing I like to call an "impact.";)

I'm surprised you guys are using an impact gun to "torque" the flywheel nut...

i wanted to hold it while i loosen it with the gun. also, i will tighten it to spec when the remover tool comes in the mail. being an engineer i learned not to do anything til you have all the necessary information and tools.
