im split between DID, renthal, and protaper

never used renthal or protaper but ive always had good luck with DID..only problem is they are so expensive compared to renthal or PT

Has anyone used renthal or protaper chains, if so any issues?

when I got into the sport 5 years ago, I started using DID chains. Then i switched to the Gold ATV X-Ring. I refuse to try anything else, because I know that this chain is one of the best out there.....to be honest, I had no idea pro taper made chains....just fork out the money and stay with what has proven itself to you. Trust me, its not worth the headache trying something different such as that.

I like the RK 520EXW XW-RING Chain that Rockymontain sells for $57.

Never stretched once on me yet, not even at first.
And a nice 8500lb tinsel strength.

^^^Agreed^^^ Rk is great, have you looked into Sidewinder? I dont know what your budget is on a chain, but the Sidewinder Smartchain is good too.

I used to swear by RK, but one 600 mile trip to the North Carolina GNCC, when the RK on my 250R that had three races on it, snapped at the 1 mile marker on the first lap, that was the end of RK for me. That was in 2002, and I still have that chain to show people why I don't buy RK. Besides the link that broke, there were nine other links cracked. And yes, I do a complete inspection before each race, the chain was fine. That was the second RK I had break, and it was the last. Now it's Regina all the way.

I believe that there are a few things you need to go ahead and pay the "more expensive" ones of......and a good chain falls ito that list for me. I too use the DID x ring. Plus you need one that has a high tensile stregth. The DID has 8000+ tensile strength. Good chain!
