Hey guys quick question. I just had a buddy call me, he bought one of those real cheap under the rear seat boxes off ebay. He was asking for sub reccomendations and I really didn't have an answer to give.

I know with those boxes, the depth is not that great (nor is the "air volume" of the box), so I told him i'd post it up here.

What is a good 12" sub for those boxes, that need minimal air and are not that deep.

Look at some shallow mount 12's. Kicker makes them and I know JL audio makes them also

I bought a ported box off of ebay once...it lasted about a week.

Yes, I too had one at one point in time before my stealth box. Good for some extra noise, but I think the main thing is its a cheap way to add sound to a truck.

Thanks, I was trying to remember what they are called but couldn't remember the phrase "shallow mount".

Any particular model of sub anyone have experience with that works well in those boxes?

Go with a Pioneer shallow mount and call it a day.

I hate prefab boxes but I guess since its an under the seat box it will have to do.

Kicker has some, Pioneer,JL audio, Rockford fosgate and RE audio.

i had an ebay ported box in my mustang and it actually was really good quality box. Sounded great. I think it all depends on who you buy it from and check to make sure all the specs are the same and within spec between the sub and box you will be good to go

Yea if the specs match the sub well then it would be alright. My buddy has a prefab for his 2 CVR 15s and it blew apart. It had no screws just glue holding it together. Its also tuned way to high.
