Spring on a 02 400ex

I was replacing the timing chain on my brothers 2002 400ex and when I pulled the side cover off I found this spring just laying there in the bottom??? Can anyone tell me what this is??? Thanks

bikebandit.com will have the schematic of it, but i do believe it is the clutch lever spring
