looks like someone is machining a billet head, is that you?

It could be a jig plate to attach a stock 250r head to so that you can turn it in a lathe. Already have my special jig made up, but looks good anyways. Warning, this stuff is addictive and you may want to consider a little larger so you can attach other cylinder heads too. Mine looks like swiss cheese.

Actually, it looks like a cylinder boring jig. So it can be turned in a lathe. Like a line bore. Or, more than likely, its a torque plate. To simulate torque stress put on the cylinder head bolts during the boring procedure.

I agree with MACHWON.....It looks like the same jig I have for turning the stock 250R heads in a lathe.

Because the spark plug is angled you can't grab it by the threads so holding it by the stud holes is the next best thing!

its for cylinder boring. those studs would interfere when facing off the head.

machwon nailed it. its a jig i had made this week for turning/profiling stock head chambers. i've been wanting/needing one of these for many a moon and now have the means of custom cutting profiles or to atleast do something or another with the MANY oem heads that have debri damage. what yall thank?

Looks good!

:D

Here's a trick.....Take a TAP that is really close to the holes in the cylinder head.....and tap 3 holes....spaced like the ones you've got in the gasket.

Then get yourself 3 Piston Pins.....250R ones work great.

Use these as spacers to space the head away from the JIG.

The bolts go through the JIG then the pins...then thread into the head.

JCS003 ,

This way the bolts don't interfere with the deck surface.

And the head will still mount on the cylinder with no problems.

Make sure you set it true with a dial indicator and you're off to the races!

great info there langbolt........... i've been running different ways through my head since i picked the jig up as to how i can make better use of things. i sure do appreciate the lil tid bit of 411.

thanks

i was meaning the gasket surfaces. not the combustion area.:o

So was I.....:D

This way you can DECK the head and true it up.

Just make sure the bolts are recessed enough for clearance.

How are you picking up the dome in the head? By swinging the compound rest, or do you have a radius attachment?

guessing it will depend on the circumstances with a particular head..... i've actually had this piece made to help my machinist help me. he has all the tooling needed which includes a cool lil radius attachment.
