I just bought an 88 f-250 4x4 5sp long bed a few weeks ago and came across a brand new 3 inch body lift on craigslist i've had another similar truck that had about 9 inches of lift on it but rode like Crap.

I'm wanting to lift it a little bit and put some more aggressive meats on there

but it HAS to ride smooth our roads are so bad around here rut's water 1ft deep pot holes Could i do a body lift and just get better shocks all around how much would that run what's better body or suspension lift

what size tire are you looking to put under it? i would go with a 2 or 3 inch suspension lift because the body lifts just look silly on fords and those 2 -3 inches will have you on 35s easily

I'm wanting to install 35" big horns i think the name of the tires are. I'm pretty sure it's got 32-33 inch tires on it now. it should have no problem rolling 35's it's got 4:10 gears in it and a 7.3 idi

i would stick with a 3 inch suspension then it will look good and be functional. body lifts just look horrible on fords.

now a lot of companies include shocks with the lift, myself personally i run rancho shocks on my lifted ranger.

not always.
when combined with a suspension lift they look okay if done right.(or by themselves for that matter) That truck will fit 33x12.50's with a small rub on the radius arms. If your going to lift TTB dont get a large suspension lift, the bigger they get the ****tier they ride. invest in a high quality lift (a 4 inch would work for 35's)

im not really a fan of body lifts because to function right they have to be installed and set up right, and even then they stretch out brake and fuel lines, mess with the filler neck, can make it run hot, and set the bumpers out of whack. that can all be fixed relatively easy but most people dont take the time to do it right.

i had a '91 with a 4" suspension and a 3" body, and i rubbed my 35's hard when wheelin it.

Almost any kit such as that comes with complete over kill for the rear leafs so expect your ride to be slightly compromised. I have 9'' of lift on my ranger and the ride is terrible. I just haven't gotten around to tuning my leaf pack yet. With 35's you may want to go deeper than a 4.10. 4.56 would be a more suitable gear. With 2-3'' of lift you might have some trouble clearing 35's. 33's would more you're tire of choice for that size of lift. I still rub slightly on some spots on my ranger, but whenever I decide to put my fiberglass on, that'll all change.

build her up and go wheelin!!!
