Got the fresh motor broke in and took the 250r for a good spin today. Cr 250 ignition is pretty dang good set up. Sure impressed me! Here are the major plus's and minus's that I've come across.

01 cr 250 ignition
Plug gap set at .28
ESR adaptor plate, DO NOT ADJUST THE TIMING TOO FAR ADVANCED. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ADJUSTIBLE SLOTS IS WHERE I HAVE MINE SET, AND IT RUNS GOOD.

Positives:
Jetting can be richer and it will still run great.
MUCH easier starting.
Idles much smoother, and will idle at a much lower RPM without killing it.
Instant revs.
Awesome throttle response.
Insane power band.

Negatives:
Much easier to stall RIGHT off idle.

Nice writeup. Ever thought about adding flywheel weight?

Anyone try a flywheel weight on their cr250 ignition setups? I'm doing an engine build this month and this would be an easy time to add one. I'm guessing this will be a pretty big issue (low flywheel weight). As the cr250 flywheel looks tiny compared to OE.

ALL250R had a good write up about flywheel weight here somewhere.

in a nut shell: the weight doesn't matter nearly as much as the diameter of it. same diameter = marginal difference, bigger diameter = big difference.

i put the 13oz on mine and didn't get the results i was hoping for. it's not much bigger in diameter than the flywheel.

13 oz is a big as i've seen.

also can check rockymtn. i believe they have "reviews" for each item. read them and see what others thought of the product.
