I ordered a new exhuast system for my 2007 400ex. the guy at the dealer said it was the best of the money. there only like 325.00 for a complete system. any one heard anything good or bad about these DG systems? hell it wont even ship for two weeks. cause they havent started production yet. I guess we'll see when it comes in.

I've never heard of anybody liking DG, but i've never had one either so I don't know a whole lot about them other than most people I know hate them.

the new ones are much better than the older ones in my opinion. The chromelite pipe and such were steel, heavy beasts, the others were just not designed to hold up to real beatings. I like the looks of the newer ones though, they arent all steel anymore and look to flow much better than the old setups. when the 450s came out they had to redesign their exhausts, it is finally trickling down to the 400 now with the newest editions of the dgs. steve

thats crazy over 300 for a DG those are complete junk. i had one come on my first 400. i baught my 227 hmf slipon and got more gain and better sound quality out of a slipon. its a joke guy...if i was you id cancel your order and go with a better quality slipon. you can get the new hmf pipe for less than 300 i think.

227 for the HMF and 150 for the FMF powerbomb headpipe, and i have a quality full system pipe for basicly 50 more. and shipping

Don't listen to all the haters that are basing their opinion off of the old DG's.

The newer DG's have came a long way. They're all aluminum now and actually really nice. The R.A.C.E series is pretty much identical to an HMF, and the X2 reminds me of the white brothers but a little different.

Everyone I know with the NEWER models (like you bought) are all happy with it.

The ones that suck and everyone bases their opinion off of, are the krome-lites. They were steel, that were heavy and sounded like crap.

You can see the resemblance to HMF.

Well after a mounth its finally here. cant say that I'm overly impressed so far. first thing is when I opened the shipping box, its just thrown in the box with some newspaper. ok so I dig all the parts out and wow its just as I ordered it in flat black pipes and all. BUT after closer inspection I notice that the black coating is the same as the heat paint they put on car headers which we all know burns off after the first heat cycle. then I look at the grommetts for the heat sheild to bolt in to and theres a welding spatter ball filling the entire threaded hole. I have not put it on yet and that will make the decideing factor. the killer is I guess you get what you pay for at 300.00 for a complete system. I'll get some pics up when I can.

we must have different kits. mines a rcm II I think. its an economy based kit so may be thats the diffrence. I still havent installed it yet due to having to work on my house witch takes preferance per the wife. I'm thinking of having it ceramic coated though, a freind of mine can get the whole thing done for around 80 bucks.

That red one is the R.A.C.E.

The RCM II is essentially the same pipe, but they didn't make it shiny and powdercoated to reduce price.

The bad DG's were the old RCM's...

I Had A Factory Pipe On It When i Got It.
Last year i Bought the DG pipe, Installed it, Then It Started Leaking, But As Time Past the leak got better, I Guess the packing got pushed up around it.

update!!! well I finally got it installed and I guess for the price I paid it fine. I would be more disapointed if I spent 500 for it. at first it was a real bear to get it installed as the head pipe comes in two peices. also they left out the clamp for where the header meets the muffler. what the did supply was a peice of pipe that was about 1/8th of an inch so I cut one end and inserted that between the clamp and the pipe for a pinch fit witch works for now. cranked it up and the smoke actually worried me for a minute. but it was just the coating burning in or off. anyway I let it run for about three minutes shut it off and re torqued all the bolts. well all done sounds ok not overly impressed but it is what it is.
Well the next morning with is easter sunday. we get up early and load up for Croom. every thing is great. we get there start up to hit the trail and theres still a little smoke but not as bad. we take off, after about the first five minutes of good rideing, not real hard on it but I'm not babying it by anymeans, I notice its getting louder. after about 20 minutes we get back to the truck and she sounds great even with the spark arrester installed. theres a little packing comeing out here and there but I guess that could be expected.
so overall I like it. it makes good power and sounds pretty damn good. well after riding for about three hours I hit the sand pit for some monkeying around and some minor jumps. my wife doesnt like that sort of rideing so she sits up at the trees in the shade and watches. well after about 30 minutes Iget tried and go up and meet up with her and sugest we hit the trails again. well long story short we take off slowly and I guess I was more conserned with witch way she was going than watching where I was and my front right tire catches a root and pulles the bike right up the side of the hill at about 10 miles an hour, trows me off the side where the handle bar grabs my foot and drives it straight in to the ground. end result is one severly brused foot and one big toe broken int to three peices:grr: damn I feel stupid.:huh
