I'm planning to build a few covers up and I have enough parts to make about a dozen. If interested, it would look like the bottom cover in the picture.

I'm still waiting for a quote on machining the quick change blanks but right now it would be $300 for a cover and $250 if you supply a clutch cover for me to mod.

Count on 1 or 2 for me

My cover is a 6 bolt and a Hinson is a 5 bolt so they will not interchange.

The JP logo will not appear on the covers I will be making.

I think it would be cool if you could do the stock honda style lettering on the cover then just add whatever else you were planning on above or below

Jeremy

I have the covers at a machine shop now, he's going to machine them to match the rings but likely won't be done until after the first of the year.

No problem. Not in a big hurry...didn't even begin to start rebuilding my 88 anyways. I'm gonna see if my Dad wants one for his quad. Thanks for the quick response.

There is always the “VERY EXPENSIVE” New Hinson $569.99 option for those Hinson lovers:

""""They want $569.99 + $14.99 shipping for the Hinson Covers. Note these are complete, including all new Honda internals components (new mechanical seal, new oil seals (2 places), new separator, new gaskets, ect…) for the water pump assembly.

Currently 12 Hinson complete cover assemblies are in a storage box at BDT Motorsports, they will sell 8 complete assemblies and keep four. These covers have been highly polished by 250RTRIKES, just need to be assembled by BDT-M.

One catch (besides the price); they will not assemble them until they have orders for 8 Hinson Covers, currently they have 3 phone orders in place, they need to receive 5 more orders…

Once all 8 orders are in, they will all ship 1 week after…If you want one, call BDT Motorsports…”""

I don’t really know if any of the 8 offered are left…

Carlos.

I just bought a brand new hinson cover triple plated chrome with red cover for 425 shipped. They are a little steep...

At those prices makes me a little leary to install it.

and 1 hinson on ebay for mid 3's as of earlier this morning, along with a couple others, may be no names however.

Awesome looking Troy!

Now you just need to put it back together…

In my opinion; Anodized Red looks the best when combined with highly Polished or Chromed parts.

I agree, except red doesn't go with my Elsinore scheme. I'm going to save this one and make a cover and annodize it gold for the Elsinore bike... hopefully.

Has anyone seen the old Rath covers? They are hard to find.

10-10-2010, 03:06 PM
Somewhere in storage I have a Rath Racing clutch cover in Black...

Something about a Hinson cover, guess it is just the nostalgia behind the name & 250R’s…if you are going to have a quick change cover, go with a Hinson.

The only one (Hinson) I see left on eBay is listed at $425…

I have the Rath R, the CT WC, a Duncan, the Hinson and are you ready?…..an extremely rare Selvy Performance cover back from 88-89, all in storage, all new or hardly used.

All tucked away in storage boxes along with a few other rare 250R goodies…

Hey Carlos, have you ever seen clutch covers with triple chrome plating last more than 5 years without the chrome coming off? You are probably the only one who knows what I am talking about. They look good for 3-4 years then the chrome starts to come off because the alumiunum underneath has oxidised.

99% of the covers I have seen Chrome Plated have issues with peeling or flaking 2-5 years down the road.

To Triple Chrome a cover (or any cast component) correctly, involves multiple steps; preparation, preparation, and more preparation of the casting is the secret to a Triple Chrome Plated cover lasting for 10 years or more…all the environmental hazard chemical issues involved in Plating Aluminum (specially cast parts) drive the cost beyond what we are willing to pay. None of us want to pay 3-4 times the cost of polished cover for a Triple Chromed one…

As you well know, polishing is very messy, time consuming, plagued with health concerns and requires constant maintenance by the end user, however; it is the better of two evils…

Has anyone dealt with Burgard racing for there clutch covers? Good or bad service? Do you send in yours and they do the work and send it back to you? Looks like theres are a 5 bolt pattern, would the duncan racing covers fit there work?

10-11-2010, 03:45 PM
The Burgard's I have had and seen have been of good quality. I don’t think the bolt pattern is the same as a Duncan…

Well that sucks. Ive been waiting to see if I could get a Duncan clutch side off of ebay for a good price, no luck yet.. I did get a Duncan cover, was hoping the Burgard and Duncan were the same size and bolt pattern.

Can anyone confirm whether a hinson,ct,duncan or any other covers do or don't fit a burgard quick change clutch cover?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I made a mistake, I have a Hinson cover in silver. Hoping someone can tell me as well if it will fit on the Burgard clutch side or if I have to use there cover.
Thanks.
