my new project

new to this forum but not to th 400ex. picked my old 2001 400ex up form my dad today. sold it to him in 2003 and my little brother has destoryed it over the last 7 years. my dad had put a 11:1 piston in it recently and now thinks the timing chain is broke. so i'm gonna pull it apart this weekend. since i decided to take on this project i found this forum, seems to be alot of knowledge here. i'll try to use the search option before asking dumb questions.

thanks guys. i plan on putting some new valve springs and hot cam stage 2 while i'm in there. looks like the 04-05 trx450 carb is the hot ticket so if i can find a decent deal on one i'll do that too. i cant wait to get into this thing. i've missed riding quads ever since i sold my raptor and bought my rhino.

Welcome to thesite. I'm almost done with the rebuild on mine. I picked up an 04/05 450r carb for $60 shipped off of here. Another guy on here had one for sale for $55 shipped. Both were in excellent shape. Goodluck with the rebuild. I picked up a ton of knowledge from these great people in this section
