I'm putting a 400ex back together and have ? about the orientation of the Cam bearing closest to the Cam Sprocket
Is the sealed side of the bearing face the cam sprocket or does it face toward the outside
I ask because I'm pretty sure my book says it faces outward but when I took it apart it was facing the sprocket and the HotCam was installed at a ATV shop. and now I'm questioning which one is correct

It's very important that the sealed side faces outward (away from sprocket). It allows the oil to "dam" up in the oil pocket so it can be pumped through the cam.

The ATV shop put it in backwards

Thanks, That is what I was thinking . But I have seen misprints in books before. and the guy that put the cam in owned the shop and had a Race set up on his 400ex so I thought here is no way he put it wrong.
Come to think of it I think the shop is out of business! Hum!
