I would use rustoleum hammered paint. It is really nice and has a somewhat hammered looking finish to it.

I used spray paint from lowes and to prep it I used a fine wire wheel on a grinder then I wiped every thing down with acetone and paper towels and I know its not a close up picture but mine came out really nice.....would like to try the hammer paint....

Unless you prep really good it will flake off. I would use spray on bedliner before herculiner.

Major issue with any spray on cheapo liner stuff is they use bits of rubber and plastic to make it nonskid-that stuff flakes off.

prep your surface real well, strip it down / sand blast it if you can if not a wire wheel works good, then i use duplicolor undercoating because you can paint over it, then i used duplicolor MetalCast Ground Coat, and then Duplicolor MetalCast Red.

I am telling you, it holds up...yeah powder coating is great but wasnt my thing...take your time and do 2-3 coats of each and it will be perty! plus that undercoating is some tuff stuff, if you do it in steps its hard to even sand off! go to duplicolor.com and check out the different colors....not every store had all the colors had i know there was a blue i would have gone with that. its real sharp.
and its good up to like 500 degrees

hey man

ok so here is what i did i couldnt be happier with the results it turned out great!! looks like a pc job!

- prep frame power wash with simple green and clean it very well
- sand frame with some 80 grit and 100 grit
-then clean with rubbing acohol and gets all dust off of it
-wipe with tack cloth to get dust and dirt off
-the apply (DUPLICOLOR TRUCK BED LINER)
- 1 light coat
- 2 med. coats APPLY EVENLY

the let dry for 24 hrs.

- then apply (DUPLICOLOR METAL SPECKS) SILVER!!
- apply as man light coats as it takes to fully cover the bed liner ! make sure you can see no black

ok now this is wear you can make it your own color
apply (DUPLICOLOR METALCAST) comes in green, red, blue, and smoke color

apply light coats until you get the desired color you want!

IT WORKS GREAT !!
