250r, 400ex hybrid part out...

i am gonna start tarin the quad down again tomaro.. 2 people were soposed to trade me for it, but both have backed out... so here i am again goin to part it out ......again....


it's a 400 frame with 250r motor,
the motor is an 87 long rod trx250r engine with a wiseco 67.50 piston, boyson power reeds, ricky stator 200watt stator, tusk heavy duty clutch, nac's polished billet side cover, powdercoated esr case saver. boysen power reeds, intake boot and exhaust manifald also included, and a stainless steal clutch cable..... it has been fixed once behind the case savor(before i got it), but doesn't leak. the motor has about 10 hours on the cylinder and rings. only has been broken in and took to one trip to little sahara for a week.

i think 40+ shipping should be a good deal on the bumper.. it's an ac bumper.. i polished what i could of it.... there are 2 holes drilled through the sids for lights that the other guy had on there...will get better pics later... thanks.

the shocks and a arms are going on my moms 400.. pm me an offer on the wheels and carbon fiber hood... the wheels are a little beat up.. the front inside beads on both sides are bent a little, but doesn't seem to affect much. i will get pics tom, so you can see what i mean. tires are in pretty good shape, holeshot sx's on front and mxr6's in rear.
the carbon fiber hood does have a few scratches from a roll over. but there are no cracks. has a number plate w/ 17. i don't remember the brand, but i know it's not a quad tech..,

i'll be sure to get some pics up of parts tomorrow..

yes i rode it. the carb is way off, so i got to get that straightened out.

i wont be able to pay for the harness and CDI for a couple of weeks. just had my hours cut. so, if you still got it then i will take. thanks.

the first pic shows the headstay mount i used.. it is a linkage peice off of a 400ex and the ears where cut off the old frame and welded on the top.. the guy before me did not have this and he had no problem, but i'll include it anyway just incase you want to weld it on.

all the mounts except the headstay one , use the existing mount locations on the stock 400ex frame, if you dont use the headstay. it would be pretty much a bolt in motor.

heres a pic of the rear rim that has the scratches in it.. the other one is fine though. both are straight.. but one of the backings for the bolts has come loose.. could probly weld it in place if a guy needed too., ..lol just tryin to be honest and thorough...

i also got a stock style stroker cylinder for a 250r. it is for a +4 mm stroker crank.. has new piston, rings, and gaskets, with a cool head dome not sure if it's high compression or not.. i think it say's 20cc..

i also have an anolog pvl ignition, when i bought it he said it had new electronics, and i have never used it.. there is a little bit of scratches on the rotor, but should still work no problem.. brand new these are $430.00 on ebay..

I am gonna keep the throttle assembly hooked up to my dirt bike... i love the way it works on the motorcycle.. i feel more in control of the bike. Alot of people say not to do this, but to each his own. right?

sold the wire harness today...
still got all the other parts...

i am also selling a stock style stroker cylinder for a 250r.. as a dune port and fresh bore.. has cool head dome, new piston and rings all the gaskets.. all you would need to put on your motor would be "c" clips, +4mm crank, and spacer.. the only problem with it is that i started to polish it, got over half way, then lost interest.. i can get pics if anyone is interested..


I also got a anolog pvl ignition... i never used it and the guy i bought it from said he bought new electronics for it.. i have all the wireing and electronics, adapter plate, and rotor... he never sent the puller for it, but i don't think they are too much..

make an offer on anything you want and we can go from there...i can get pics on request..

forgot to mention that it is a 526p4 piston witch is a 67.00mm.. 4th bore, i think theres 8 bores on the cylinder, so you should have 4 more bores till you need to get a new sleeve.

if you bought all that is there, you would still need to buy the stroker crank,"c" clips, and the standard long rod spacer plate. i do not have those 3 peices.
as far as the differences between big bore and stroker. uh, one travels up and down more and the other is a bigger piston.lol(obviously).. if you bought this kit, it would be a nice cheeper way of getting over 50hp then buying a whole aftermarket big bore jug....plus after you had this kit long enough and saved your money, and wanted more. you could put a big bore on the stroker, and have best of both worlds, like a 370 stroker or sumthing like that..

it's all up to you.
if you are unsure just give me an offer and i just might take it. i'm really wanten to get rid of this since I already sold the motor..

parts that i know will fit are the carb, radiater, front hubs with the spindles and brakes, front tires, top end, and the ignition.

i think the swing arm fits with a little modification, but you have to use the rear shock linkage off of the 400ex, witch i have.
i also think the rear bearing carrier will work, if you used the rear swing arm, it will fit easy, on a 250r swingarm, you gotta grind a little, i guess they are skinnyer.

the air filter might fit also, but i don't know for sure, i have never owned a 250r, just made my own.lol;)


edit: found on trx250r.net that the steering stem does not fit the 250r, they said you would lose 80% of your steering.

i sold the lonestar a arms off of my quad already, but i do have some stock ones laying around. good bushings and ball joints. don't really know what they are goin for $ wise, i can get back to you on that. if it's a 250r they are going on, i do have another set of spindles with brakes to go along with those a arms as well if he wants.

i paid 120 for the carb with a cable, cleaned it out, and set the float to the right heighth(cause it was pooring out of the overflow), after all of that i only used it to break in the motor and for that 1 trip to little sahara, when i was down there the top of the cable came off in the thumb throttle housing. . i'm just gonna through out $90 shipped on this one, since theres no cable to go with it.

yea, thats fine, do you want the top end too? I could throw both of them in the same box. pretty sure the nerf bars won't fit your r, they might, but no way of telling. they are cheaper ones, i'll take 40+shipping, cause they are kinda big, and don't know how pricey shipping can get on that, shouldn't be outragous, but when i shipped the hood, for some reason it was a little over 30..but when i shipped the rims and tires, it cost the same as the hood, 30$. so yea, let me box them up, weigh and measure, and see what the shipping will be on the nerfs

let me make sure my dad no longer wants his stock a arms around to make sure it's ok, pretty sure he don't care though, probly somwhere around 70 to 80 shipped, depending on what kind of box i can find

-homemade mounts for the radiator in a 400ex, not the prettiest, but fits it in there so it doesn't hit the exhaust, and so you can open the lid without taking it all apart. it makes the radiator sit offset a little though. it was the only way i could clear the exhaust and open the lid at the same time.lol

-the spacers in the swing arm to line the sprocket up.

-front 2 "A" mounts. cut and bent to accept the stock mounting locations.(done by another guy here on atvriders, i bought most of the parts from him)

-the top headstay mount. uses a linkage peice from a 400ex. fit pretty good and could be polished up real nice.. the only downside is that you have to weld a piece for the linkage to bolt onto the frame(i have everything you need. just have to weld it to your frame). the guy that did this before me said he rode it with just the swing arm mout and the front 2 and had no problems.


i had 2 steel bars made to fit on the bottom of the engine, but i forgot to take them off before i sold the engine.:rolleyes:

yes i would like some pictures if possible. i will be putting an 86 bottom end on a 2000 400ex frame. not sure what the year mounts are for, but i also have an 89 motor, but it is going on my 250r. please send me pics to bob1143@gmail.com Also, do you have pics of the mounts on the bike, and would you happen to have any left outer cases for a 86?

here are the front 2 on... the curved bottom 2 i made.. I forgot to get them off of the motor before i sold it on accident.. but i do have the front 2, rear peice, the 2 spacers to aligne the sprockets, and a headstay mount i made out of an old linkage i had around.

how much did you want for the motor mounts, and do you still have the radiator brackets?

yea, the radiator brackets are with it... There not pretty.lol. but they mount the radiator in a good spot... atleast for the way mine was setup... I've never seen conversion mounts for sale before so I really have no clue what to ask for them... i'm just gonna through out $30plus shipping.. let me know
