Love it man, I to am adding some bling to my bike during the rebuild.. That HMF pipe, was it that shiny when you bought it, or did you polish it more.. I am waiting on my polished pipe to get here....

The first step is to remove all of the paint either by sanding or striping. The next thing you want to do is to try to get the aluminum as smooth as possible by sanding. Start out with about 600 grit, 700 grit, 800 grit, 1000grit, 1200 grit, 1500grit , and finally 2000 grit. Please note that this is alot of work and takes quite a while. Move up a grit size when you cant see the scratches you made from the previous grit. After sanding is done polish the metal with a buffing wheel and a compound. I have also used mother's mag & aluminum polish and a mother's powerball. the powerball method works well but if you really want it to be clear and mirror-like buffing is nessecary.

Very nice! I like that oil tank also, what brand is that? I have a polished clutch cover but im not gonna put it on til i get some more polished goodies. :cool:

I love the look and there is no such think as too many polished part IMO.

heres my pipe what will work to make it look new again?

if it was a polished pipe sand it with 1000 grit then 1200, 1500, and finally 2000. Then buff it with mother's mag & aluminum polish, this should bring it back to a good shine. you may have to use a buffing wheel and polishing compounds on it to get it mirror-like
