Help!! Tranny Problems

i've got a 2006 kfx 400 and every time i am in third gear there is like a constant grinding noise. once i let the clutch out it starts and then when i pull the clutch in it stops. i am guessing that third gear is going out....any help on what to do about this would be great!! thanks!!

Anymore info on this? My does a similar thing, but at an idle instead of third gear and once in gear and riding it gets louder with engine rpm. Anyone?

its the gears my buddy had a 03 that did it it started in 3rd and worked its way around the teeth are falling off the gear i would quit riding and get it fixed before u do more damage also my buddys 08 just started doing it

guys theses thing never fix thems selves , get them cases split ans see whats going on in there

I guess I wouldn't call mine a grinding noise...more like a rattle or chatter sound. By no means to me does it sound serious enough to split the cases (atleast to me) but maybe something needs to be adjusted?

it isnt a grinding sound it just chatters cause the teeth are falling off ur gonna regret not splitting cases and fixing it cause it starts to take out the other gears just saying

i agree better to be safe then sorry get it split before it becomes a total loss
