Has anyone Broke a HD Timing Chain shortly after a fresh rebuild? What would cause this?

never heard of it but possibly too much tension on it.

the t/chain tensioner might have failed there is a specific way to install them. you dont just bolt it back on. or the timing might not have been set right. how long did it run?

This is on my buddies bike, we think that the tensioner has failed also but not for sure. His engine was rebuilt the same time as mine by the same person and I have had no problems. I am running 11:1 440 and he is running 12.5:1 416, he is also running a bigger cam than me. He got about 4 strong rides on it and with no warning the timing chain broke. We are also thinking maybe a defective chain.
