I was going to take the spark plug out because I gummed it all up and I really hate where that darn thing is. I was just wondering what you guys did to get the plug out?? It is a huge pain in the rear to take all the plastics and what not off to get to it.... I have air shrouds or scoops that also get in the way.

Anyone know an easier way to get to the darn thing? Like what do you do to get it off and stuff. Thanks!!

well when I took mine off i had to bust the plug, then unscrew it but i took everything off to change it. I didnt have the tool from honda to take it out so i went with a different plug that works fine and fits the 5/8" plug socket

i bought a new plug and took it to a local scooter shop and found the skinniest plug wrench that would fit it and it ended up workin.

it takes about 30 seconds with the stock tool and the little bar. you just stuff it in there and make sure it is on the plug, loosen it up and take it out. then you can use the tool to put it back in. I do mine from the left side of the machine and get at it from the middle. behind the front fender, you can get right up in there pretty easy. steve

i do mine with everything on. it is kinda a pain but just got to feel for it. i got the tool from Honda. its a bad spot also because you cant see if theres dirt down there thatll go into your cylinder, unless u blow it out first.

Thanks. I still have my tool kit that comes with the quad stock. I guess we'll have to see if that works for me. When I did it, I was using a plug socket and ratchet and the ratchet always got in the way. But I'll try her this way

My tool kit disappeared. I ended up going to the local Honda shop and the service manager sold me a used one for $2.

i went round and round with this spark plug issue also, what a horrible design , i am sure there is a reason behind the madness, i got it out by using a craftsman 18mm and grinding down the walls, it was still a B#$CH but it came out, so then i drove an hour to the honda shop and got the right tool for 8 bucks..no more pain! it was so frustrating

boy am i glad that i have never had an issue with mine. you guys must be doing something wrong to have that many problems. i think the main thing is that you are not using the correct tool for the job making it much tougher. instead of grinding sockets and such go to the dealer and match a kit up. they have tons of them most of the time. your issues will be gone. you may get lucky enough to get one that has a rubber grabber in it and then you will be really set. then it is super easy to do:eek2: you dont even have to try to hold the plug anymore. steve

I think the problem is finding the right tool, i live in the middle of no mans land and i take what i can get, and finding a thin walled 18mm is no easy task here..i did end up getting the honda tool with the rubber holder making life that much easier

i suppose it could be a bit difficult to find one. you can always find a whole kit for the machine on ebay or something. i am sure bikebandit and servicce honda would have the tool also. steve

You def need that plug tool that comes with the bike, other wise it can be tricky getting it out.. Hell if you think these area PITA you should try getting the plug out of the trx450.. I had to pull mine out, it angered me.. Def a bigger pita

My grandfather taught me that one, car was stumbling at idle, he already knew the dizzy cap was cracked cause looked at it. Didn't bother to tell me, I laid my hand on it and BAM! I found the crack too haha.
