I was wondering about a few things on my 400ex. First of all, I want to change to a lighter weight oil for the winter in my quad, as I am running Mobil 1 15W-50 in it right now. I was wondering if it would be ok to swap right to the Mobil 1 10W-30 or 40, or should I use another oil. I would like to use the Mobil 1, but am just looking for your input. And also, is there a battery out there that has more cold cranking amps than the stock ex battery that will swap right into the original mounting location with no mods? Please let me know guys. I appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

well i run Castrol GTX 10w-40 year round, its good in the summer and winter. I dont know what the deal with 50w is. And the battery will work fine as long as you buy one to fit the 400ex, just order 1 for it. Or measuer the stock battery and get one to fit.

what temps are u running in now? I run 15w-50 year round. from 0 - 90+ degrees. In the cold just make sure u warm it longer. Also dont use mobil 10w30 or 10w40 bc they all have friction modifiers which make ur clutch slip. 15w50 is the only mobil without them. good luck:D

You can use it if you want (SYN-OIL) we dont care but we wont!!!!!! not on our 465SPARKS motor we wasted to many fibers......
ever sence we stopped using the slippery stuf we have been running fasttttttttttttt plus we like stock fibers!

we have used W/B ,Diret diggers, ECT.....
maybe on a reg. motor it doesnt mater?

like I SAID after this one fellow tech down hear in PHX told us to stop using the SYN. we went bought new fibers again and this time no slippery stuff its been almost 1 full year of hard core dragginggggggg befor it started slipping, befor that we smoked clutches every 1 to 2 months and they wern't even that worn.like i said first hand, we stopped using the SYN and all the slipping STOPED...
