My son is 4 years old and will start riding and hopeful doing a little racing. Not sure what quad to look for. Bought hi, a 50 cc wildfire for x-mas not very happy with it. Already had to replace clutch once.

My kids start on KFX50 / LT50 and then on to DRRs, seemed to be good starter quads and you can pick them up for as little as the china ones and they are way better quality, I paid $600 for the last 04 KFX50 I bought.

Just go buy a new 44inch wide DRR 50 and get it over with. If not you will end up with one. Apex are good to but its been said that there is no matufacturer support. Plus as your son gets older and his skill level rises you will be able to upgrade that quad.

Yeah, What he said. But only if your going to run Nationals in that 50cc class because your local series most likely won't have to dumb 41" rule.

I say Drr 50 as well.

Personally I would not waste my money on a kfx 50 . Go for a DRR great for kids.

I agree with the DRR 50. My son raced a KFX 50 last year and it was rough. Although they are smaller and less powerful the handling made it dangerous. I just bought a DRR 50 for 2010.

just buy a drr my son went thru a polaris 50 suzuki 50 and a suzuki 80 then we bought a drr 50 raced one season then up graded the engine to a 70 going on the second season on the 70 and ther a lot safer. ther low to the ground and wide and ther pretty fast that was the best bike i bought my son after all thes years he still grins ear to ear every time he rides and find a good dealer who will back the bike up and help you that makes a big diferance good luck tommy

the drr is the best bang for the buck. if he decides to race later then you can make upgrades as he picks up speed to keep them safe. the first bike i had to design parts around was a drr 50. the frames are very good from the factory and with upgrades he can ride the bike for a long time at less cost to YOU!!! the support you get from drr and the drr dealers is way better! just my thiughts and what i have seen over the years. dc

Kasea is old news. It would be great for TT type of racing but if he is going to do MX then its DRR or Apex. Unless the Kasea is outfitted with dual a-arms. But, basically besides the a-arm thing, they are pretty much the same. JMO.

I'd go with a dual a-arm quad for XC for better handling. DRR or Apex.

I have a DRR DRX2-90 with a fully ported race motor in it with several other tricks. It has one championship already and the new motor has 2 races and 1 moto on it. PM me if interested in Tampa, FL. area. It is the air cooled 42" version not the liquid cooled 44" so it would be better for xc tight woods racing
