Ok I KNOW THEY WILL FIT :).. I have a set on the way now for the bike.. My ?? is are the 450r shocks longer then the 400 shocks?? As the bike sits now(no motor, no swing arm, just the front susp(400 shocks) 21 inch wheels, along with the handle bars.. With the back on a cycle jack.. It seems to sit really high, maybe it is just me not seeing it with any plastics, or motor on it, but that isn't going to make the shocks drop, maybe the jack is a tad to high in the back.. Does the frame on these quads kinda angle down, from front to back, or do they sit perfectly level.. My handle bar centers are at 44 inches from the ground.. Does that sound correct.. Now I have added a + 1 stem, but made it back up with a set of mid rise bars that are 1 inch shorter then the stock bars.. So that should put me back to the stock bar height.. Just looks weird, maybe cuz it is so bare.. I am my own worst enemy some times:sigh: It has been so long since I have seen my bike together LOL

Thanks for any input

John

Don't the newer 400's have shocks that are just like 450 shocks just shorter for the 400, wouldn't these be better?

No, the 450R shocks ride 100x better than the 400ex shocks. height has no matter, its the spring rate and the actual quality of the shock.

Ok, I'm glad thats cleared up now, So the change in front ride height won't make a difference on hills?

Not at all, infact I now hate riding 400s without 450r shocks.

Any ideas on how to convince my dad of this lol. After he found out about the whole inch longer shaft he wasn't to fond of the idea and thinks I should hold out for aftermarkets. Any ideas lol

Uh about a zillion other people tried them and love them? Also they are TONS cheaper than aftermarkets. A set of elkas are like 800 bucks vs maybe 200 on gently used 450rs,

Its no big deal to bolt up the old set if you dont like them tho. All you have to do is using a cold chisel-smash off the nut inside the mount and use a small carriage bolt to bolt the plastics back on. Dont like it, keep those bolts and put the old shocks on.

Honestly the 450 shocks are pretty damn hard to beat, esp for the money you can buy them for.. Do you race?? If not do the 450, hell even if you do, they arn't bad..
BTW I picked mine up for 130 buks

BTY guys, I think I am the same height as stock, but will still like some measurements if you get time.. Thanks :)

mine seemed to be like 1 inch longer or taller you could say and then i adjusted the pre-load all the way out and i lowered it down that 1 inch and now its at the stock position and there softer....mine the pre load was adjusted higher so i undid it....the pre load are the 2 big flat nut on top of the shock spring adjust it just to the top and the threads and re tighten it down and its good to go

Thanks, he's changed his mind but he still sounds like he thinks I should hold off, oh well I guess its just one of those times where I get to be right later on lol. Speaking of the shocks, anybody looking to sell a pair near 130 dollars lol.

Hmmm, looks like I need to get some 450r shocks. What do you guys recommend? Price does not matter.
