Just put 400ex front end on my 250x, 400ex a-arms, tierods, spindles, hubs and 250r front shocks. Also the diamond j relocator bracket, the shocks seem to be almost straight up and down, is this normal?.. the front brakes are not on in the pic, they are just zip tied to a-arms

those look like stock 300 a arms, did you compare the ones that were on there before?

ya, there not. there like 13 1/2in. they look small becasue i put 3inch spacers on back tires. Heres pic before i put the new front end on with stock arms and stock shocks. The 400's are about an inch and a half longer on each side

also, could use some help with calipers, they wont compress the hole way in for me to put them back on, they go about halfway but they come back out easily, suggestions?

There not, up close there a big difference, and i knew the guy i got them off of, there stock from a 04. You guys think theres any chance the bracket is on wrong or something else?

I would have to say it is the relocator that is the problem. take a pic of the relocator on the bike. It looks like the top is to wide pushing the top of the shocks out way to far. The new mounting location for the shocks should be about 1.5" wider per side.

These are pics of my son's 250x with +2 standard travel 400ex a-arms and the Diamond J relocator. The lower shock mount should be in the same location as yours since they aren't long travel. The top mount must be different.

hmmm, i just measures it with a tape measure.. Were the shocks mount it comes out almost 3 inches from the stock shock mount so it mus be. ill get some pics up later, its kinda hard to get good pics with my bumper on and all. This may be confusing but we built it like this, we put the little L, the 2 big U shapes, the big L and then the other little L. sorry thats confusing

Sorry for the bad pic its really dirty its hard to move it or wash it when theres 3 feet of snow. its hard to see but u can see how the 1 big L shaped black peice hangs over the top of the shock i didn't know where it was supposed to go, it didn't fit in between the to U's with the shock mounts. The directions are hard to follow

It looks like you have the relocator put together the same as ours. Maybe the lower shock mount is further out on ours. I don't have a stock set of 400ex arms to compare to but I did measure from the center of the mounting bolt to the center of the shock mount on the lower a-arm and it's about 7-1/4". I did the same measurement with stock 250x arms and they were about 5".

I'll measure some more tonight, something else i was thinking about is when i put the 400 a-arms and the shocks i was holding the a-armks up. They seem pretty straight i could lift up the quad undo the shocks, itd drop the a-arms and then move the shocks down on the bracket. They are on the top setting right now

I think you have the upper L bracket flipped around. It looks like in the photo the L bracket is only bolted on with 1 bolt at the bottom of the bracket. Try flipping the L around and droping it down so there are two bolts going through the L bracket. It looks like one side of the L is longer than the other. you would want the short side attached to the shock and the long side attached to the U shaped bracket.

I'll try to move it, i was looking at yours and im curious. your stock shock mounts are mounted above mine, mine won't fit on the above hole. The top L is just bolted above for a spacer, i didn't know it was needed for something

You figure out your issue yet? I'm gettin ready to put my bracket, shocks and arms on and want to avoid this issue

no i haven't. it rides and handles fine and everything it just looks like they should be more slanted

So have you decided to leave it like it is or have you tried moving the bracket? One thing I forgot to mention. I belive you said it is on the higher setting and you would try moving it to the other? I dont think your relocator has two different settings.

I just put my bracket and shocks on and it looks pretty much the same. The shocks aren't as angled as they used to be but I'm really not seeing a problem with it like that.

Thats how I have seen them on many 300ex with 400 a arms.

I am running the 450r a arms and they have the same slant your talking about but are 2 inches longer then the 400ex a arms.

If you know how to weld you can make a new perch for the lower a arms.

I have done this before and am going to do a write up.

it looks goofy but it rides amazingly better. i still havnt figured out why there like that but it handles really well

here is a pic of mine with my old relocator. It was made out of square tubing and metal flat bar. My new one is is way better looking but the shocks sit about the same.
