yeah i would go with a old 350x...bolts right in basically

wouldnt make sense to put a 250f in it...250fs these days put out almost the same hp at the back wheel as a stock honda 450 quad.... or i could see throwing a crf 150 motor in it

22 horses to the wheels. 27 at crank.

Good torque.

You can bore/stroke them to like 500ccs

the 250fs make around 35-40 hp i believe

350x is a somewhat direct bolt in...the cams do go bad.....if you never change your oil....

youd be nuts to put a 350x motor in it over a 250f motor :huh

the 350x no matter what you do to it is gonna perform like what it is - an old air cold dinosaur. a 250f motor is gonna be lighter, sound 1000 times better, be original and cheaper by the time you built the 350x motor to perform with a stock 250f motor

i was thinking about getting a 250f but i dont know what one to get... i would like to get it all honda but im not really crazy about the crf's i found a 89 kx80 motor for 20 bucks on craigslist and im gonna go get that for a 3 wheeler im going to be building out of a extra 110 chassis i have just for ****s and giggles...

I just didnt know what to do...

i would go with a basic 350x motor if you want to actually use the 250x's frame. If i were you and were set on using a crf 250 motor or another similar i would look at a different chassis to mate with as the 250x chassis is severely outdated and lacks the handling of 250r and the 450 style chassis

i hope with in the next few years that i would be able to make a chassis like the 250x size and have it a 250r mock... just a down size of it...

the front clip of the chassis is cracked so i was thinking that i would change the front end up...

make it run the 250r a-arms and make it close to the narrow frame/lobo style stuff with adjust upper shock towers and stuff like that,

I know this is a side but im working on a stainless no link intake so you can see what i do... and how i work...

youd be crazy to put a 250f motor in it ...definetely if the only reason is it sounds better...

heres the reasons i can see not to put a 250f motor in

1.swingarm would have to be modified
2. a little too much motor to appreciate with the handling
3. no real use for it other than a play toy...350x would be a much more fun trail quad
4. having to modify all the motor mounts, getting the carb and intake setup
5. radiator would be crammed...no real room
6. doesnt make sense
7. 350x is the perfect combination of power and handling for the trails, since stock i feel it performs better than the 400ex, all the conversion parts for the chassis are available

around here i can run what ever i want for a motor, if i wanted to put an R1 in a chassis and race it i could, its all open...

I would say a CR250F would be better in a 250R/400EX style chassis. But the 350X is a easy bolt in in the 250X. To those that say a 350 X engine is outdated, it is actually a better engine to get power out of than a 400EX. Sure its a heavy engine, but it would be a neat bike.

im not really sure what im going to do, i've only really ran 2-strokes my whole life... im not sure if i want to use a 125 and put a 144in it or use a 4 stroke... it wouldnt be built in to a race quad right away but slowly it would.... what motors have you seen in the 250x/300ex chassis aside from the 350x?

KTM EXC300 2-stroke. That would be pretty unique.

Or a Husky TE350 motor. I know nothing about them other then it's a twin cylinder 350cc liquid cooled 4-stroke.

ktm would be a for sure 250r chassis setup, that husky would have to put out some HP and Tq/. the aprillia has about 62 HP stock and thats a Vtwin 450... that would be sweet if you could get it in a chassis and have it done right, cause if that has close to the 62 hp stock that should really throw the HP out modded...

From what I just read, I believe bone stock the TE350 puts out about 42hp.
