Anybody go there? Or graduated there? I am considering it and just want to see what some people say first hand.

I read somewhere that Wyotech is around 27000$ and UTI is around 23000$. I'm not 100% sure though.

I just called and they said 24000 with out housing and wyotech was 33000 with housing. Are there any other schools out there like this? Or maybe a different path to take? Internships?

Biggest waste of money! Seriously you will regret going there and spending all of that money to leave with nothing besides saying I graduated from UTI. After UTI if you want to be a mechanic you still have to go else where to get ASE certified and some places dont use ASE, Honda for instance you get Honda certified.

ASE certification are just tests that you take, there are no classes for in, 2 times a year you can register for the tests, some places care and others dont, they are tests not real life experience. I have 4 of my ase's so far and the tests arent really practical to real life. if you are trying to work at a dealer your best bet would be to go and try getting a job before you pick a school and then they would most likely send you to their program.

Went there for about 3 months then dropped. Wasn't worth the money i was spending. Already knew 90% of the stuff they were teaching. Going to local college now and am learning more there. Also my dad was been a auto/ diesel tech for 20+ years and he told me that UTI on your resume gets you nowhere except laughed at. I was too hard-headed to listen to him. Wish i shoulda now:ermm:

O and idk where you want to go but my auto/ diesel was 31,200 no housing. plus 500ish a month for apt in chicago.

UTI in my opinion is overpriced. I have a few friends that want there who are very smart at what they do. They all said they would have been better at a community collage for the price. Some are not working due to the economy not lack of work ethic or knowledge. One was on a top fuel racing team and quit because they didn't pay well. He left to go to Newman-Haas racing and just got laid off last week from the open wheel team. I have given working interviews to students from ETI (HVAC equivalent to UTI) and these guys new nothing at all. I think its more about student dedication and effort then where they attend. Some of the students that rode with me were also book smart but when put in front of the equipment that was actually broken they couldn't figure it out.
