i am in the process of buying a new sport quad. now, i will most likely end up getting the z400. but, recently, ive been thinking of what honda's going to do to match the z. is there any word as to when honda's new sport quad is coming out?

basically im looking for honda to come out with something new. like a crf450ex or something of that nature. stock for stock, i like the z over the ex. but if honda puts the 450 into a quad frame with 250like plastic, that has my money!

The only thing the Z has the EX doesn't is liquid cooling and dual overhead cams..and 2 - 3 more ponies..the Z is not above the EX as you think..

Yeah have every thought that the z is a combanation of a raptor and 400ex... ok look at the front for example raptor front end plactic well it is very simalar and the raptor tires, and then 400ex based frame. all suzuki had to do is play around the the frame mounnts and put a dirt bike motor in it and there you done

well depending on the riding he does, he may not need reverse. I knowe have never need it on a MX track. Also, when you know you dont have reverse, you tend to not get your self into positions were you need it. If you do, dump the clutch and pitch it sideways. Or the machine is not that heavy....pick up the rear end and swing it around

Yea but how often do u really use reverse. I have never had to back up yet and i ride more than most people, 3 or 4 times a week at my best friends farm. I just pop the clutch and wip her around. I was thinking about a z but i think the honda is the best thing on the market. Its relable, light, affordable, looks a lot better than the z and has plenty of power.

I use reverse all the time. You come to appreciate it when you have it, and I dont use reverse while I am on the track doing MX, but I do use it in the pits. And of you are saying the Z400 is better but not admitting to it, most of you say it has more power, liquid cooling and dohc, yet you wont just come out and say its better, I dont get it, it that d@mn Honda loyalty some of you have.

I think that the ex is a pretty good machine and like alot of the other guys said, if you don't have reverse you don't get into situations alot of them time when you would need it. Also alot of 400ex's are going cheap these days too.

with my blaster, my reverse is putting my front feet on the wheels and act like i am walking while i sit on the seat and it rolls back, should i get a 400ex because of all the bugs of the Z?

Bugs on the Z? sure there were a few bent axles, frames, and bars in the beginning, but thats all fixed now. as of now, the Z's are very nice machines. im hoping on a 450ex, but im not willing to wait another year. sure 3 months max, but thats it.

Why all the hype for the NEW Honda? The 4ooex with mods is awesome! Example: Chad Duvall's overall win in GNCC. The mags are just not talking about the 400ex right now because its not the new kid on the block. I'm not convinced that the CRF is a better mousetrap over the 400ex motor because of the oil consumption problems over long rides. See Baja Designs crf dualsport bike project.:confused:

Well it took Honda about 10 yrs. To create the 400ex after the 250r.

So with that in mind, I'd say the new honda is coming out in 2010. I can't wait. I'm gonna start saving now.:square
