It was really unclear to me, and search tool has not given me any help.

I know for a fact that I wont go with 440 because I run the piss out of mine, and its hot enough as it is, and I was really interested in doing the following engine setup:

-Hotcams stage 2 cam
-Wiseco 11.1 87mm piston
-getting head Ported and polished
-Cometic gaskets
-HD Cam chain

I think that would be satisfactory to my riding needs, but I would love to gain even more power without worrying about cooling isssues that comes with stepping up to the 440 setup.

so, essentially, is a 426 a noticeable jump from the 416 with that little extra displacement?

im doing that same exact setup in mine right now. Im just waiting on parts to come in. Id also like to know if there is any difference but the reason i chose the 416 kit is to keep it a tad cooler than the 426 and i can also have another bore left if/when needed.

Yea that was the big upside i saw with doing a 416. im really paranoid that if I get my hands on a modified motor, Im pretty sure eventually I will blow it, and need to go up a little bit to correct the problem.

There is a jug you can buy as a complete replacement part that is made as a 440cc which alleviates a lot of the heating / stress issues with the OEM jug.

Now if I could just remember the brand? Someone here should know.

I know it's not cheap!

I always wanted to do the 426 to mine; it's as big as it gets before you have to press out the factory sleeve and modify your cylinder for a 440 sleeve.

I may stand corrected here, but I believe the 406 bore is a 1mm(.040") over, the 416 is the 2mm(.080"), and the 426 is a 3mm(.120") bore.

I've never seen a 426 bore in person, but a lot of people think it's a little thin on the cylinder walls. In my opinion, I say run it. If you scrap a bore; yeah, you're on your last bore in the factory sleeve, so either press in a new sleeve and start over, or have it modified for a 440 while it's apart.

What in terms of different are you wanting to know?? You can run all of the same things on the 16-26-40.. Different jetting will be req for each machine... Based on the set up, one of the smaller engines can make the same amount as the larger one. depends on alot of variables... The best thing to do to keep the oil temp down, is get s set of the scoops, a oversize oil tank.. Between the 2 of them temps will stay way down... :)
