i recently learned how to wetsand and polish plastics but i was wondering if this would have any effect on my maier plastics? mine fenders were made before they started producing them with the glossy finish.

I don't think you can fix the dull, but if they fade you can dye them a darker black or back the same color.

Rock your rat rod color proud, buy a graphix kit and enjoy it.

I'm a powerwheels forum for modifying my sons toys and there are guys on there that take a heat gun to the dull plastic and it gives it a shinier look. You have to be careful not to over heat the plastic though.

I just did this to a 01 DS 650 i just picked up. It was scratched up and dulled to hell...I wet sanded it with 600, then with water only and a wool pad buffed @ 14-1600 rpms.. You can physically see when it is starting to get hot, glaze out.. Keep it wet( using a spray bottle) and moving, do not stay in one spot and it will look nice.. They came out extremely well, very shiny, like new.. Now all the scratches are not out that are worse then 600 grit, but the longer you work on them the more they come out... It can def be done, it just takes some time, patience.. food for thought, do not burn it, or it is a royal pita to get out...
