i know this forum isnt for scramblers, but one doesnt exist. i dont own a scrambler but my buddy has one and i am having some serious problems with it. the drive sprocket for the rear wheels was worn way down so it needed replaced. taking it off was easy because the teeth were worn off and it slid right past the swingarm bushing...the new sprocket wont fit past the bushing. im not sure what i have to do to get the thing on. any help at all would be appreciated

btw it is a 1995 scrambler 400 4x4 if that makes any difference

as for your sprocket problem, take the old one off, using a good quality snap ring pliers with the right angle will make it alot easier

slide off the old one, and slide on the new one on, and then put the snap ring back on

it may be possible that your swing arm bushings are bad and the swing arm isnt positioned right to allow enough room?

hey dustin, remember on the 95 the have the jack shaft sprocket and brake on the same shaft, he will need to remove the jack shaft support carrier and brake disc, then he should have room to put the sprocket back on.

i got the breaks and all that junk out of the way, took the old sprocket off, but the swingarm bushing is bigger around than the swingarm itself and the new sprocket cant fit past it...the old one came right off because the teeth were worn way down

you should try and get us a picture of it, on my 97 i was able to install the new one by going in past the shaft carrier.

im trying to get my buddy to send me a picture of where its hitting. What do you mean by going past the shaft carrier?

look at item #16 its a shaft carrier bearing assy, this bolts to the side of the frame which carrier the load of the output shaft, remove it and you will have a good size hole from which i think you can get that sprocket on.

also, is he replacing it with the same size 11 tooth sprocket? you cant change it to something different as it will mess up the 4x4 ratio to meet with the front.

i have the #16 part off already, it fits through that hole but then it hits a bushing behind it. now that you mention it, im pretty sure that it was a 13T that we were trying to put on. that could be the problem but ill talk to him tomorrow and find out for sure. Thanks for all the help btw

do not install a 13, install the 11 and you should have no problem, when you install a 13 your will mess up the speed of the 4x4 action from rear to fronts.
