450r a arms will not fit on a 400ex there is like an inch to in inch and a half of a difference in the width between the bushing mounts both top and bottom mounts. u have to move the mounts back some monster garage ****. i did it on my 400 with some lonestar a arms +2 +1 it looks sick. just have to do some work.

Is this even an upgrade at all really? Why not 400 arms?

well i got lonestar +2 +1 a arms for 400 bucks and they were used for 5 races. they came powder coated already which cost like 150. and to get +2 +1 a arms for the 400, the ones i wanted were like 850 bucks +2 +1 its all about saving money brother. and the lonestar ones look better. the only thing i can think of is the brushing mounts are father apart then the 400 so more stability. my quad turns on a dime when i take corners, and i have a custom 400 with a 450r front end why not do it its the only one i have ever seen. im hapy they way it came out. going to rip it apart soon to powdercoat the frame and subframe. u cant really tell unless u look very closely. its just somethin different not tryen to copy anyone.

Hey Josh25ex,

Did you make NEW mounting tabs ? Or were you really good at grinding off the old ones and re-welded them on ??

Is there anyone who supplies those tabs ?

Thanks

as far as i know u cant just buy the tabs cuz i have looked for weeks with no luck. i have a pretty steddy hand and used a dermal with a cutting wheel on it. took alittle longer then expected but it came out great. i did all the cutting and grinding that u see in the pics but i had my uncle whos a professional welder, welder her up and now the weldeds are deff twice as strong as stock and havent had a problem since. but the process is time consuming but u have a custom quad and thats what i wanted. all i need to do is get my quad powder coated and u wont really notice unless u look.

the only thing i made new was the gussets for the bottom to renforce the tabs. made them alittle beeffie then stock just because i could.

Thanks....I've been lookin' for a while too.

I've seen the ones for Stock car & offroad chassis.....but they're Imperial and just flat plates.

I don't think Walsh or Loestar would sell them....but ya never know.

I have to do the EXACT same job to my hybrid as I'm switching the A-arms too.

I've got Laser cutting connections and will see how much they're gonna cost to make a complete set.

dont use a plasma cuter cuz u will put holes in the frame and have to fill them with weld not a fun job. i know a kid that tryed what i have done and ****ed up is frame real bad beyoned repair. i dont know how powerfull lasers are but as long as they dont cut into the frame u should be golden. and u can make new tabs yourself but its just time consuming but the more custom the better i think just makes u know your quad better. what kind of hybird are u maken??

ohh u mean having the mount laser cut that pretty sweet man. just make sure all the measurements are correct cuz of the bends and stuff and you will be good wish i had connects like that.

Hey Josh,

I'm having the brackets laser cut & bent......I'll be doing the same as you....Dremel and a grinder to cut off the old ones.

I've built the XR650R motor in a 400ex geometry chromoly chassis.

She's SWEET!!!

What type of weld did you use? TIG MIG or just stick? Houser sent me the 450 A arms instead of a 400ex and I'm loving it. lol. did you have problems with your shocks? Was the clearance ok? I heard the shock mounts on the arms are a bit farther from the frame. thanks.

when doing this swap did you try to salvage the original brackets or did you make new ones??
