a sand blaster would be ideal but if its not possible. and you really need it down to bare metal. go to a place that sells paint stripper. its thick kinda like jelly and you just brush it on with a brush let it sit for like 10 minutes and use a paint scrapper to take off the old paint. i have done it this way but its a pain in the ***

i just tore my quad down to the dirt last week.. lol the frame on mine had been painted also, all chipped off and what-not. i tried using a sander and it worked good for the most part but couldn't get the little cracks n crevices. i finally gave up and gave it to someone and had them sandblast it!! waaayyyy better, quicker and easier to deal with..

my buddy used that stuff on his bmx bike. paint came right off. and killed the grass he did it on. and ruined his shirt.... lol. that stuff will work the best imo just make sure you clean it very well before u paint it. problay use rubbing alchole to wash the stripper away

You can get the paint remover gel from home depot or whatever. But use gloves and a mask. Also brake fluid works good.

Aircraft Paint Remover is the easiest way to remove the paint! I have used it on 2 different mountain bike frames.

Spray it on (don't get it on you, or on your clothes), let is bubble for a few minutes, then spray it off with a water hose, dry, and repeat if necessary. No rubbing, sanding, or scraping is necessary. Scraping might help but like I said, DONT get it on your hands. It burns.

Aircraft stripper from walmart does the trick. I think it's like $12 for one can and that is more than enough. Just like everyone said. Don't get it on you

I sanded my frame with sand paper and used a dremel on the welds. Took days and days for it to get done.

haha whereas the paint stripper will get it done in about an hour (assuming you need to reapply a few times for tough spots)

ive always used air craft stripper. take my stuff to the car wash spray the stripper on wait 5mins and wash it off with the pressure washer. u might spend 3bucks on the car wash but its worth it over sanding any day
