Try a scotch-bright pad. It should come right off. I had a similar incident awhile back.

Do you have any steel wool? Or those SOS pads that are used for dishes work well also. Just make sure to rub in one direction, it'll actually polish your header a bit.

Let it get hot and see if it will peal off. It might burn off over time.

The head pipe should be stainless steel. A full titanium head pipe would be crazy $$$. If you keep cooking it it will not come off. It will just turn black. Steel wool or similar should do OK to remove the gunk. No promises though.

I'm pretty sure the powerbomb is stainless steel. I think steel wool will get it off pretty well. How much gunk did you get on it? (size of a half dollar, etc?)

I did that with my rain pants, i took some fine grit sand paper to it. Only because its the stock header.

if you have a puddy knife or any knife then just scratch it lighly and it should come off i melted my fender to my header while i was working on my valves

I just burned off my pants on my minibike today, so im glad I saw this thread. ive done the same with my 400, so I will go test the SoS pad on it later.

If its been on there for a loooong time and is now black, will it still remove the gunk after a lot of elbow grease?

yeah the size of a half dollar. but steel wool will take the paint off the exhaust

There is no paint that could come off, the header isnt painted it is stainless steel, if anything it will shine it up alittle

your going to put small scratches in it and create rust areas if you use scotch pads or steal wool, i did this on my motorcycle, the best way is to start the bike and let it get hot and use a razor blade at about 45 to 50 degrees of an angle and slide it softly in one direction to get whats burned on it off. do this right and you won't scratch the pipe.
