2006 TRX 450 R Wont Start!!!!!!

I have a 2006 450 R that I am considering buying but the thing wont start with the starter, the guy tells me that the only way he can start it is pull it, and then it runs good.
Can you guys tell me if this could be something simple or if it might be something worse? I think I can pick it up very cheaply but I dont want to be sinking a ton of dough into it.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Also the thing is immaculate other than it doesnt start.

Is the starter just spinning and not starting? If thats the case, it sounds like the starter clutch is bad IMO.

yeah I agree, sounds like starter clutch if the starter won't engage. Wouldn't hurt to do a quick compression check tho if possible... My 06 cracked a piston, and wouldn't start until with starter, but it would start when it got pulled. I knew if was messed up tho, pumped all the oil out of the breather...

could be the valves. the o6 and up have ti. valves and it is very important to adjust them after the breakin. it runs about 250 - 300 for new intake, same for exhaust installed or they might just need adjusted which runs about 100 to do. how much do they want for the bike.

I went ahead and picked it up for 2100.00 the thing is clean, I figured if it was a serious problem I could part it out for that.

Yeah it was the valves out of adjustment, not a big problem thing runs awesome! Cant beat the price !!
