Here is the vid that i wanted to post up a while back. i am wandering, is it supposed to sound like that? It was a cold start because it was around 32degrees:

the oil must b ok to use with a wet clutch. dnt use regular car oil. i run valvoline atv oil from oreillys. you are prolly hearing the usual "400ex tick" and as long as its not real loud its prolly ok and just normal valve train noise.

yeah ok. how is mobil1? and yeah its not too loud. and shoiuld i adjust the valves then or not?

u could adjust the valves for peace of mind since u jut got it and dont know when it was done last i assume.

Looks good.

You need to get a rear skid plate...

Just use the pro honda oil its the best

ok thanks but how much is that oil and, ill have to pick a skid plate up somewhere sometime. thanks too

honda oil about 4 or 5 bucks a quart. and oil filter prolly 6. You only need about 2 quarts for an oil change. do yourself a favor and just get the honda oil.
You must be a young lad to keep askin how much oil is ...

well i had a kawasaki first and used castrol gtx in it. and i heard honda oil was a little expensive so i had to ask. and thanks

Thats just the trademark 400ex sound, every 400ex i have ever heard sounds like that, there is nothing wrong

I just picked up an 05 myself sounds the same way and I just had my buddy who owns his own 4 wheeler shop check and its fine. Where in pa u from?
