I wanted to see what length (eye to eye) LT shocks people were runing w/ T-pin and if it differs from shock manufactures. I have spoke to Axis and Laeger and sort of get different answers and ultimately I guess told that it can be a range of about 18.75-19.5.

also is anyone runing a T pin LT for XC. if so what size arms and on what frame? I have a T-pin XC std shock a arms now and was looking to convert to LT likely +2. it will be on a narrow frame so I believethat this should put me over stock 1" on each side with 3/2 or at stock w 4/1 offset wheels

any feedback would be helpful

Thanks

With XC tires it will slightly depend on what size tire.

But I'm guessing with 22" fronts and a narrow front frame you'd be running 18.75" to 19".

That's what I figured out. I had a +3 front end running 19".

BTW if you want to sell the ST a-arms let me know.

so are you currently running +3 for mx? or are you set up for xc

I was running +3 because I thought that with a narrow front and 4-1 rims it would equal +1, but I found the rims would rub on the top of the t-pin and 3-2 rims would set me around 47-48 ish so I sold them.

custom axis calls for 19" exactly I talked to them yesterday. +3 protrax for mx. calls for 5.625" stroke. 8.875" body on the build sheet.

I had ITP baja's and the top part of the t-pin would hit the rim when turning. I didn't have hipers, they may be different.

did you see or have a build sheet? I would like to see it if you have it please. Michah at AXIS told me 19" as well but said some people run different sizes when I told them Laeger told me differently. Scott from Laeger will be calling me when he gets back next week but he said perhaps AXIS has newer updated info from throughout the years since the 250R is 20+ years old. I wonder how much of a difference a 1/4 or 1/2 would make. I can get some at a decent price (even considering the additional price if I want them serviced and revalved by AXIS) that came off another 250R but if the length does not work than it makes no sense.

As far as the hipers I will double check and confirm with him, perhaps they did rub some but he never mentioned it.

I am going to keep the std XC arms if I do decide to sell them I will let you know

thx

Micah is who I spoke with they just built my cr500 rear shock. I've run both a 19 and 19 1/4 on that same front end and never had binding problems with my wheels and I've always had 4+1's. A 19.5in shock in my opinion is too long. Ive bolted one up and the ride height was up, and I feel it would bottom the shock too soon. However you have to understand this is all dependent on shaft travel, inner or outer limiters etc.. Really the whole setup is kind of for you to choose. You have one of the only frontends that has the ability to even produce that kind of arc. I ride motocross so I want the bike to squat.
Suspension has always been one of my major addictions. I like to tune and valve and experiment with different stuff. I even ordered a shock clock from race tech like six months ago thats still not ready. (kind of a business investment though we work with alot of racers) I truely feel that the 19 is the way to go on that frontend for mx. In the desert or xc I might go with a 19.25. Yes 1/4" makes a pretty good difference.

I'm pretty sure that my Axis front shocks on my +4 pro-trax frontend are 19 inches.

why do you state that for desert or XC you may go with 19 1/4. And what big difference would it make?

thx

I never said it would make a big difference but in the desert and woods your not g'n out. Your floating through bumps and whoops and you could use the added ground clearance.

My PEP shocks on my +4 protrax a-arms are either 19" or 19.25". I'll be able to tell which length when I take them off soon. I couldn't quite tell precisely. Lol.
