Do you think I'd be too big for one.. im 5'10 155lbs. Or should I just get a 125? I think I might be too small for a 125 though. Any help would be good. Thanks

my friend that rides bikes is about the same size as you. he rides a 125 and feel comfortable on it. unless your getting a steal on a 85 i would definetly go with a 125.

If you have some experience on bikes... you may even want to consider a 250 if you are a responsible person. The 125's tend to sit a little bit taller than the 250's for some reason.

But, it also depends on your experience level and type of ridind. I personally find it easier to ride a 250 in just about any type of riding. Especially in the woods. You dont have to be at 9k rpms to get into the power. But, you have to be responsible and respect the machine. The minute you lose respect for a 250, you're toast.

Also, $2900 for an 01' Yz125 is not that great of a deal. I mean, if you really want a bike fast, I guess it's alright, but be patient... bikes are selling so cheap right now its ridiculous. I have seen 02' Yz125's for around $3000 and 01's for around $2500.

quadridermx, if he is just starting out on bikes or doesnt have alot of experience he shouldnt go for the 250. there is alot of power there and on guy i know bought one and sold it and went back to 125 cuz he couldnt hang on to the darn 250. and for that price i would deffinetly get the yz125.

yeah, that's why I said if he has a lot of experience on bikes he should get a 250... if you are just starting out, definitely go with a 125, or even get a new 4-stroke. they are much easier to ride than the 2-smokes.

but 250's are much easier to ride once you get used to them. the powerband on a 250 is not any more harsh than the powerband of a 125. they're almost the same, except on a 125 you have to get the rpms up real high to get to the speed.

really the only difference is the torque. a 250 has about the same top end power of a 125 (ok.. maybe just a little bit more) but it has gobs more torque.

and i really dont understand why people say they can't hold onto the 250's. if you're lazy and just sitting back and grab a handful of throttle then yeah... you're gonna get thrown off. but if you know beforehand that you're gonna accelerate then there's no problem. you just lean forward a little bit. it really doesnt take that much skill to stay on a bike, just takes a little leg muscle to stay forward while accelerating.

Yeah Im not experienced enough for a 250 but I think a 125 should be good. I ride my friends DR350 all the time and ive gotten pretty good at wheelieing and stuff. I would get a DR but theyre to expensive for what Ive got. Thanks for all the replies
