i would try out a 426 if i was going to do it again just to see what it is like. it is tough to decide. lol. unless you have all of them lined up and can ride them it is hard to tell which is actually better. even different compressions that may be built different run different. mine can run with stage 2 hotcam 11:1s with my setup in my sig. it may run better than most. I have no idea. they can be broke in different and make a huge difference in performance. lol. sorry not much help here. steve

well actually i just talked to my dad about it again (he is gonna by the 416 kit) and im gonna buy the stage 2 hotcam, valves, seals, and valve springs......so were doing 416 kit, 11:1 comp, stage 2 cam, new valves, seals, and springs, and then all the stuff i got in my sig now........tell me what ya think?

you'll have the exact same setup as i do, i'll highly recommend HD head studs, i blew a head gasket six months after my rebuild. you'll be impressed with the power it puts out, very comparable to a stock 450R if its done right

get a dremel and an end. you can clean it up a bit to get the ridges out and do it a bit of justice. wont take too long either. steve

oh heck no steve..ahaha i wouldnt trust anyone except a proffesional porter to do that, once you start cutting there is no going back and thats something you can really mess up.......now maybe if i had an extra cylinder i would try it but deff not going to do it myself.......

ok i was looking at the kits on ebay and all of them 416 with 11:1 kits come with namura(spelling?) gasket kit, are they any good? my dad was look for cometic gaskets but none of the kits come with them so lets talk about the namura gaskets?

I personally would not run a namura but i have heard good things about them. about the porting. i am not saying to take off any material. there are ridges inside from where it was cast. these can be cleaned up by just about anyone with a steady hand. no material removal except those. it may not make much of a difference but why not do it while it is apart. it is like the header welds does it make a difference or not? lol. take the butterfly out of the carb for the summer too. it all starts to add up a 1/4 horse at a time lol. for a good example. steve

Stay away from namura gaskets, the pistons and such are fine, but gaskets are no good. Blew a head gasket within hours of a fresh start/break in

ok ill just order the 416 kit with gaskets and such and then just buy a new set of cometic gaskets for a 416

im going to port my own head, not just cleaning it up, going all out on it to see what i can get out of it, of course im researching this a ton before i start cutting it. ALso when i do it im going to port the intake boot along with it. I was looking at the head and there is a good bit of material that can be taken out at the outlet of it so thats getting cut some also. Ill have plenty of pics and am posting a how to (might even do it for you for a small price after i get a few under my belt)

I think the 416 is a really good choice. I bought a COMETIC gasket kit off of ebay for $35 shipped, not bad at all IMO and it works with the 416 pistons. We will have pretty much the same setup, yours may be together before mine so if it is, post up and let us know how it runs with that done. If it is comparable to a 450 without the port work, that just makes me more anxious to get my port work done

just remember if you go lower then a 440, everyone with a 440 will have a bigger motor... mine never overheats, starts easily, super reliable, tons of power, revs out fast as hell, I wouldnt ever go lower in bore size.

Modded banshees, who cares... mines just as fast as 400cc stroked banshee from "trinity" in a drag race.

put on the cfm aluminum air box what a big difference with a open air box more low end power and mid range power and it looks pretty sweet if i know how to post some pics i would put them up. deff a good idea to by one makes putting the plastics on very easy and has a throaty sound. wants to wheelie 1st 2nd and 3rd gear. im in love lol. one of the best things i have boughten.
