i'm looking at a nice chain and sprocket set from ebay. as far as i know i have stock gearing wich would be 15/38.(will know for sure tomorrow) i am always wanting more top end and try to shift again when i'm in 5th gear. was wondering if the 15/39(which is suppose to gimme more top end) is worth it. i'm sure with the 440 bore kit i wouldn't be able to tell much decrease in the bottom end with this set up as i have plenty...
1st gear is like granny gear anyways...

would like some input before i purchase.

going up in the rear won't give you more top end, it'll give you more bottom end but a slower top speed. try 15/37 or 15/36

i ride mx,and with my 440 and magnum stage 2 cam,i run 16/36 and it works well

you can also buy 16T front as well doing 1T on front is like doing 3T on rear. And its easier to change.

Some ppl have even had 18T front's made but it would be a very tight fit.

the biggest you can go is a 16 and you would either need to not run a chain guard or buy one that is made to run one. it is also like going down 2 teeth in the back. I would suggest running a 16 instead of running a 36 simply because it is easier to change and helps with wear on the sliders since it is not such a sharp corner when the swinger is at full drop. also front are cheaper to buy than backs. just my .02 though steve
