OK here we go again.....this is our first big quad. Got the frame done today. Waiting on the motor from TC, the JB, PEP, and Rath from Hetrick, and Mics. pieces from Mosites Motorsports, Tom Clark Honda, ATV Fourplay, and Vortex (cool sprocket).

idk why but i find myself watching every video you post..lol..im entertained on every one... what type of spray gun is that? im assuming some sort of powdercoating deal? and im jealous of the snow you have.. i live in western ny and we just got a whopping total of 6 inches

I'm out of control with the camera.......lol. It all started when I was selling parts and I thought it would be better than still pics......now I can't stop man I'm addicted.

Yes it's powdercoat........ it's a do it your self deal...far from pro but not bad.

They just said on the news we got 29.6" on snow in the month of Feb. It hasn't snowed like this since I was a kid........so much for global warming.



you can still see the grass still in some spots here... keeping the miles down on my brand new crossfire7 tho

That's a hot lookin 300....... looks like 08' plastics for white. Have to get a hold of mad man Mike at Gen-X and get a red hood. Bars came in today.

Mad Dog Mike e-mailed me back and Gen-X is making us a metal flake red hood for 08' 300 plastics......he said they're in the process of revamping their products......they're not dead ....good deal.

Yea I was woudering about that......... I posted a vid of that for Hetrick to look at and all he said was the frames were the same...... I don't think he really looked at it.......thanks...I think your right.

Mike, you do know that the 08 plastic has different mounting points? I didn't see those mounting points on your frame.

Yea.... we're going to have to get creative.....I bought the stay for the front so I know each front fender will have two points. The tank piece...no clue, the rear we can make brackets that go to the pull bar bolts.....and wing the rest....lol. I wish now I would have waited to powdercoat it and mocked it up with the new plastics....I could have welded brackets on whatever. We'll do something. Thanks. We have a bunch of cell phone pics of mounting points on Kyle's phone from the Honda shop...we'll get it. The new plastis wern't part of the deal but a buddy of mine paid me some money he owed me so I went for it. I just need to get them here so I can tose and turn all night until I figure it out.....lol.

Good deal thanks..........what do you what from a big quad rookie...lol. I'm not in E-ton land any more....... we'll get it thanks. Either way the little spacer has to go to the rear to clear the frame.

Hay edaddy, You will like the tires. We have run them on the Honda 90 before. They wore good and hooked up good in the mud. He really liked them. Also we have the same chain guide on our 300ex it is one of the best, I really like it.

What we do as parents for our kids. If we didn't have kids that raced just think of all the toys we could have.

Yea I here that...... how about a 20' Triton with a 250 Merc optimax on a jack plate........gettin theres half the fun. Nothin in the water but the prop. I sold my old Bass Tracker......the only water it seen since he started racin was rain water.

Your quad is really coming together. How do you post videos on here. I have almost all my parts for our build and would love to share videos so it may help someone out as you have and continue to do. How did you build that powder coating baker? It looks sweet. I am looking at doing this on the side and can do little parts in my oven, but yours is big. Did you insulate the inside or anything? PM me if you don't want to let the secret out!

I made mine out of an old cabinet I got from a truck garage. The Harbor Freight gun is fine but if you want to go one step higher you can look on Columbia Coatings or Eastwood. And you can go to Caswell Plating and go to the finishing forum there’s a PC section and a oven building sec. I got the contactor from the first site below…… that’s the oven I was going to build, but I’m a fat guy and I didn’t want to bend over so I made it upright with the barn door track. After insulation it’s 2x3x6.

I got my oven going for the first time and I had a powder coating gun for 2 yrs still in the box. Man did my parts come out awesome. This stuff is too cool. I keep looking for more parts and pieces of metal to powder coat. I want to try to learn how to do candy colors and some blends. Thanks for the pics and videos they really do help out. I need to buy a crap load of different colors. Before long everything metal around my house will be coated?????? Haha. I will call you about videos and show you some of my pieces.

Good deal....... top coats with a hobby gun are a little tuff.....you got to shoot hot, but you have to watch you don't get to much on. The red frame is a top coat.

By hot do you mean heat the metal to 450 pull it out then apply??'And then stick it back in the oven?

It's the old 150 rule take your piece out when the base coats done let it cool to 150 and shoot it with the top coat

Retail was $901.91 plus tax, thats no hood and the front fender stay. With my discount from Mosites Motorsports Honda...... it was $635.98 with tax. With the hood from JETEK PERFORMANCE I'll have $795.00 total in the plastics..........wow that gives me that stupid feelin in my chest......lol.

Not sure may have to mod it....... I looked at one on a 07' in the Mosites Honda showroom and Kyle got a pic of it but it's still on his phone...... I guess we'll see when it comes in, I can always return it and make my own.

to use the stay you have to cut the two prongs that come off the relo and put two 6 mm threaded holes in it then it will work according to jody at jb i talked to him about it last week because i just got an 07 frame but have an old style relo

No I'm good I have a 07' and up relo on a 03' frame with 08' plastics....lol. It already has the two holes on top.

If you get it together in time you should go to Atco Mx in Jersey, they are haveing a race this coming weekend and are having a practice each friday after that. GREAT job on the build so far though. are you guys doing D6 this year?

that cant be true. i have never had experience with tc motors but i have seen people in my class that have them and they have idled longer then that. plus if that was the case im sure they wouldnt even build them if that was true. im sure it is as reliable as any other race motor.

Yea didn't sound right to me.....but it came from someone I trust in the quad world........?? we'll see what Tom says when the motors done.

It is true that you cant let it idle for more than around 15 seconds otherwise tom said the oil pressure will drop too low for the oil to be pumped into the head. That is atleast what he indrilled in me in September when I had mine built.

I told Kyle about it last night and all he did was laugh....... I said what's so funny, I've always done that and you yelled at me because the motor was cold.....lol. Now I guess it's ok........little smart a**.

It is true about the 15 seconds. When my buddy Gary picked up Garrets 300 motor Tom said dont let it sit and idle. Well they went to Nemx for some seat time and gary let it idle to warm. Big mistake they wore the cam down to nothing. They asked Tom How Long Is Too long Of An Idle? Tom said 15 sec is it. Well guess what no more idling more then 15 sec. Tom said just burp the throttle every couple of seconds.

I guess I'm not going to be sure untill I get it on the ground but right now with wire for shocks at 18" and 3+2 wheels it 50". But I guess the shocks are 19.5"........ we may have to run 4+1 wheels......???? I can't wait to get some damm parts and find out.

Brad Moore, Moore Racing (red300) did them for nothing I just had to pay shipping......cost me 70.00...... it's worth it for me. Over the years that's what me and Kyle have fought over the most.......lol.

do you have any idea how much power these national motors make?Because we are allowed to run hybrids were we race.just wondering if they will keep up with the crf250 motors that are being used?i was told the 300 would not make as much power as the stock 250s.Any help would be great.

stock 250s make about 35-40 hp when most fully built 300 are only pushing 35 at most

the way you put a 250 motor on a 300 frame is the same way we put on a kx500 motor on a blaster frame. put the bottom bolt in and see what else bolts up. the measure and cut new motor mount to hold the new motor. then make sure everything is in the right place, and go ride

Your build inspired me to do mine,I went a cheaper road in the beginning building a hybrid.That has quickly changed to a hybrid with aftermarket parts.

I attempted to just run the 450r factory a arms and did the work for them to fit and it is great,but now I picked up a set of +2 up 1 a arms laeger,and a jb 400ex mount,waiting on a +1 stem.

But I love the bike you have built.I am leaving my body work stock just because I like the old look still and it matches my 250r kinda.

Mike the quad is looking sweet. I noticed the Rath Nerfs. Those look like our nerfs but in black.They are a two piece nerf, right. The heal guards are bolted on to the nerfs themselves and then to the frame. Plus I like the webing better then metal,if you need to you can replace the netting insted of trashing a whole set of nerfs.

Thanks........yea the heal gaurd is a separate piece it bolts to the frame and to the bolts that go through the foot pegs, nice stuff.

Rings and gaskets are coming from Hetrick, intake valves are coming from some dude on here (cataway) Tom Clark Suzuki told me just bring my old shims and they'll swap me for the ones I need....... I may not need any with the new valves, the exhaust sides good..... I got .020 and it's .020 - .030 mm.

we have that exact same carb. its going to rub you starter real hard. either that or you could make an adapter to push it back farther but you will need to dent your gas tank

could you tell me what your running in it for a main jet though?

ya motokid i got the same carb too. it does rub real hard on the started and it actually rubbed so much that its leaking a little from the screw on the bottom. but we got it fixed.

Not sure on the main jet.......if I remember I'll check it for before I put it on. I ground down the nipple and most of the boss for the drain and the ribs off the plug.....I got about a 1/8 of light between the carb and starter motor now.

Sorry man I forgot to check the jet before I put the carb on....... and I sure as h@ll ain't takin that S.O.B off unless I have to....lol. I fought it until I took the intake off and boiled it then fit it to the carb while it was hot let it cool down then put the intake back on then the carb fell in.....lol. Got dark on us last night I'll try to get a video tonight. It sounds real good.

I made one last night but for some reason Youtube will not upload it.

I have no brackets on top in the rear right now and cable ties on the bottom.....but I'm going to make them.

Made this Saturday after we got done. What realy sucks is I think valve seals are leaking all ready....blowin smoke after it sits then gos away....... my luck. Tried to race today, drove two hours....hopin and wishing the rain would quit and it didn't turned around and went home. We wasn't running our fist race in a bad mud fest.....

Well he got to ride it on a track...... yehaa. We went to practice at Latrobe Speedway, a AX track in the infield of a old dirt car track.....sorry no video I asked the old lady to do it.....I might as well talk to the frickin wall...lol. All I wanted to do was watch the quad, listen to the motor, and drink beer....... but no she couldn't do it. She did take a couple of still pics. He had a blast.......he said it's all good, wow was that a relief....I was a nervous wreek...lol. No more smoke TC was right took it out and ran the balls off it, the rings are seated now.....lol. And Junior the new track dog did real well.

Your bike turned out sweet! We are still working on ours. The VA is finally helping me so look out next season. I had a guy trade me his 400ex supermini for my extreme 88 pitbike. I tore it down and powder coated it in one night. I was trying to race last sunday but we only had one day to go thru the bike. We didn't complete it, but it should be a real nice quad for him to ride another class in. We are going to concentrate on the 300 class next year. He just turned 13 so we have time. Hope to may be go to PA July 4 and ride the supermini.

Read the whole thread start to finish. Found it cause I was looking for relocation bracket for my wife's 1996 rebuild. I was surprised and pleased to find the thread cause I thought her 08 white plastic conversion was gonna be special. Not so after seeing your detail work. I'm just cleaning hers up to be a trail bike.

Good deal Bolt......... glad to help. You can make rear fender brackets. If you get a 08' and up relo bracket and the front fender stay your set. Hopin to get the quad out this weekend and get it cleaned up........ he's into soccar and girls now.........oboy here we go with the chick thing.

I took a little different route. The 450R fronts are a LOT less money than 300exs. The 450R fenders are also removable and replaceable with aftermarket fenders that don't have those warning label inserts.

I bought 08 300ex rear fenders, stays, seat, seat latch, tank cover and hardware. Will adapt to it 08 450R fronts, hood, stays, headlight (same as 08 300ex). Slight plastic trimming of the 450R shrouds is needed. The center and hood is longer which I may or may not trim once I see it mounted.

The 450R front saves about $110 on plastics... and another $60 on the stay... but you don't get the clean mount up of the stock stay to JP relocator. Some fabrication is needed. But I'll do it right and those two bosses on the JP relo will be perfect for my customer bracket.

I'll post up a build thread with mini slide show in a week or two. Those are usually fun. Basically I am taking a low hour 1996 I bought for an ex girlfriend that the wife never wanted to ride. I am cleaning it up and making it look like a twin to my TRX450ER, which she absolutely loves.

Here is a mini slide show I did for my recent Houser up-grade on my HRC Kit fat man TRX450ER. It's a brand new 07 leftover. But I made the dealer swap 08 white plastics on it to get the sale done.

Slideshow is just an animated gif file. That way I can post it anywhere. Same thing that makes animated smilies move. :eek2:

I use Imageready to create it. Program comes with Photoshop. But you can find free animated gif programs online that are real easy to use.

And after viewing your video I decided I needed that part due to the clean almost OEM fit it provides. I would NEVER have bought this part based on their cheesy little picture on their website. I am worried about that. I have NOT started the project. I have almost EVERYTHING with the plastics arriving Thursday. I explained that to Jody hoping it might have some influence.

I want to start now but I need his mount to fab my frame to 450R fender stay brackets. Oh well... if it gets delayed to the point of dragging out my build I'll build my own, cancel the order and save $100.
