i found an 82 honda 250r 3 wheeler with a hasa big bore kit making it 310ccs (thats what the ad says), would it be worth me paying $500 for it?

I would most likely want to take the motor and put it in a 250r quad frame, and then sell the rest of the 3 wheeler ( I perfer 4 wheels). How much do you think i could sell the rolling frame for?

The '82 engine is completely different then the '85-'86 ATC and '86-'89 TRX engines. Not one thing is the same, and the countershaft is on the right side making that conversion even more difficult. It could be done, but I don't think it's worth it.

that engine is right side drive a trx is left side drive. ;) besides, i dont think i could bring myself to either butcher the trx in that manner nor would i seperate the atc from its counter parts.

for the air-cooled 250r's there was 2 big bore kits, a 300cc(hondaline and mugen) and a mugen 360(very very rare, special parts and required alot of work). There were other big bores that were never available to "average joe", a 330, 350 and liquid cooled conversions for 250 or 265 and 300cc. There was also de-sleeve kits air and liquid cooled to 200cc's. 200cc de-sleeve or de-stroke and heavily modify jug to make the 85-89's 200cc's. Slevy is most notable for the 200cc kits, klemm did them also. I agree, leave the 82 250r alone and whole, way too much work to put it into the 85-89 250r and it will still be slower than a bone stock 85-89 250r engine.

then would it be worth it if i found a 1985+ 250r 3wheeler for under $900.... i really want to build a 250r, and i know buying a complete motor will be more than that.

have you already a 250r chassis? if nawt then your best bet is to search around and find one that will make a goed project. they can be had. you just gotta look around. try local cycle shops and talk around. or try local craigs list.
